Why Does John Bolton want a war in Iran so bad?

I dont get it. Iran poses very little of a threat to us here in America.

I think he legit wants a war and to go through the whole regime change/nation building BS that has never worked out for us ever in history.

I'm guessing there is a certain lobby for whom he does his bidding. I've always been torn about that with Trump. I don't like neocons, but it's better supporting them than coming across like Ilhan Omar, I guess.

There's an entire faction/school within the National Security establishment, including enough in DoD and a few in DoS, who just think Iran is the next war. They've had it tee'd up for years. And of course our "close allies" in the ME, KSA and Israel, are all for it. Our saving grace is that it seems unlikely that Trump is serious about it. Iran would be 10x the clusterfrick Iraq was. Hell geography alone guarantees that.

And we overthrew their democratically elected Prime Minister, installed a puppet dictator for a quarter century and then funded Saddam's invasion of Iran, which killed 1 million of their citizens. Foreign policy interventionism is what got us here. We don't need more of it.
