I find that odd....those 2 words describe the Democratic party perfectly.

It doesn't even matter. They steal whatever they want.

Democrats just stole the word Liberal, they never were, after they trashed the name they moved on to "progressive", taking a positive term and turning it negative is just something they do.

I don’t think you know what liberal means. Liberal and socialism are opposites. Socialism involves force. Liberalism, true classical liberalism, involves liberty. I’m glad they don’t generally call themselves liberals anymore because they aren’t.

Socialists like Bernie get bullied and undercut in the dem party. If you look deeper at who funds the dem party, you’ll realize that it’s many of the same people who own the likes of Mitt Romney and McConnell. Hillary’s and Joe’s people are not really socialists, they’re big business oligarchs. True socialists like Bernie would gut those companies

same reason they don't refer to themselves as Satanists or marxists; negative connotation which is the opposite of what their propaganda machine wants. They're satanists and marxists and socialists and liberals and progressives. the comments on this page show none of you really get it. It all goes back to marxism, which is really just a humanistic word for satanism.

They all think fascism is a far right form of government. When it comes to defining the many forms of governments, the party of the intelligentsia is woefully dumb.

2. Bernie Sanders calls himself a Democratic Socialist. They think when you put the word democratic in front of socialist it makes it sound less bad.

I never considered them 'liberal' (that's because I value the true meaning of words) - I kept 'using' the term until sometimes in the 70's when it became obvious it was just another false platitude. Unless I decide attach something more degrading, insulting, or vulgar to them, I just use something like extreme left-wing, left wing radicals or "progressive" (with the air quotes) to them.
They are in no way liberal. They are actually hedonistic libertines with a tyrannical socialist political agenda.

Which is why I utterly detest the platitudes that are used as political imperatives - when the actions they intend are the exact opposite of the actual meaning of platitude hi-jacked by the title.

Dems do not call themselves Socialists for the same reason that Republicans do not call themselves Nazis. Neither term is accurate.
I know plenty of Dems who refers to themselves as either liberal or progressive
