Maybe xenophobia is a survival instinct. Maybe when we ignore our survival instincts, our arse gets bitten.

They have completely distorted the meaning of this word.

It used to mean you thought another race was inferior, or even sub-human in extreme cases.

Now, if you are concerned a foreigner might infect you with something from their homeland, that’s racist?

I’m calling bullshite. Take a fricking history class.

racism.

Should be about priority #500 right now

The only things that matter right now:

The pandemic
The effect the pandemic is having on the economy (including stimulus package)
Oil glut

Almost everything else is just ambient noise. If you're looking to shoe horn racism into things right now it's because you're an a-hole.

No.

The fact that a small number of idiots use a term incorrectly does not modify the definition of the term.

There is no maybe about it. We are genetically programmed to not trust people who don’t look like us. For millions of years, when Men ignored this instinct, they died.

That small number is larger than you think. I’ve seen at least one other article from WaPo or something on it. Probably more.

And Italy officials didn’t want to quarantine Chinese arriving from Wuhan because they thought it was racist.

So you actually have this policy costing people their lives.

I can’t think of a more serious example. It’s real.

But it does...

Perhaps not in Webster's dictionary... but it definitely modifies the perceived definition of the word.

I might die but I will do so as a demonstration of my virtue, safe in the knowledge that I was not a racist.

They are playing the long game of indoctrination. In 20 years not handing over your wallet and house keys and wife to a minority upon meeting them will be "racism" , and brain-dead sheep will believe it to be true.

I view this differently.
There is the actual definition, and then there is the "working," "common," or "accepted" definition. The second type of definition can now be manipulated via a MSM or social media narrative. If the "small number of idiots" reach a massive audience, then the incorrect use of the term will become widely accepted as correct.

Sooooooooooooooo...Hank and Jimmy know the correct definition. The arse hats following this idiot (and his fellow liberal progressive "influencers") will now use the term "racist" in the same manner in which he did. As such, that definition has now essentially been modified.

Just my .02.

Inherent to the definition of a phobia is the idea that "The affected person goes to great lengths to avoid the situation or object, to a degree greater than the actual danger posed."

Hence, when you have a legitimate concern that a Muslim is going to decapitate you, that a foreign sourced infectious disease is rapidly spreading in your country, or that a drag queen is going to molest your kid...

...it's not a phobia. It's reality.
