Why didn't Trump make Richard Grenell the permanent Director of National Intelligence

Senate has to approve and he would never have gotten the votes. Same with every other IC position.

I love Grenell in any position.

(Not in a ghey way)

Trump has a track record of appointing diehard loyalists to interim positions (think Grenell and Whitaker who was Acting AG). They then scare the crap of the Deep State. This then makes the approval process easier for actual appointee. The Senate Dems are like: “let’s just approve him so we get this crazy interim guy out of there.”

Really a genius move on Trump’s part.
