Plus, the more guns he had pre loaded and ready, the faster he could mag dump. Reloading a 100 round mag doesn't take much time, but having the gun already locked and loaded is faster.

The pauses in fire doesn't agree with this. I know I can swap PMAGs in either of my rifles, and resume firing faster than it sounds on the video.

I'm laughing at the people trying to argue with the guitar analogy. Every song you hear on the radio has multiple guitars, and every guitarist that plays live has multiple guitars, you need them because different guitars do different things, you guys need to find a different argument

Before the boating accident I could have put his collection to shame.

Why are there so many words allowed with free speech? Shouldn't the first amendment only apply to the first 500 words a person speaks and the the government has a say in what's said?

You don’t need 10 guitars to play one song though.

Would a double neck guitar qualify as a high capacity guitar? I've seen as many as 6 necks on a single guitar. That's up to 72 strings! Nobody needs 72 strings, propose a ban to high string capacity guitars!

And yet another who chooses not to comprehend. I've been an NRA member since 1988, and a NAGR member since 2000. I don't think a person can have too many weapons.

I do think that 23 weapons in a hotel room is rather odd, certainly for one person, even if the plan was to spray and pray until all ammo was gone.

he could conceivably have been shooting 2 weapons on tripods at the same time at different angles or immediately switch to his secondary weapons as soon as the first one was empty to make it seem like it was one long continous volley.

might help explain the confusion regarding longer volleys.

thank god he didn't get his hands on a minigun.

in order to fire as many rounds as possible, i can easily see him having 4 or even 8 tripod-mounted weapons at each window and then fire each of them until expended, then move to the other window (the pause in the shooting) and do the same

no matter what this sick frick intended to kill as many people as possible before he was caught.

horrifying the amount of planning that went into this.

He switched windows, most likely to throw the police off and act like two different shooters. That easily explains any pauses.

What am I missing? I only see two bipod mounted rifles. I do not see a tripod in the room (granted, this is only a composite).

Having 23 guns in the room doesn't make sense for a shooting like this. Having a stack of 20 - 60 round topped off surefire mags doesn't make sense either - especially considering that he had lots of spare time to continue before being interrupted. Also, if he was simply switching guns then there shouldn't be long pauses like you hear in videos.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was trying to sell these guns to the wrong people and something went really wrong. Say what you want about the tin foil hat tards but the arms dealer theory makes sense at this point.

The only "typical mass shooter" narrative that I can rationalize is that he was expecting people to show up and help.

This guy shoots 500 people and you are questioning how he reasoned he'd need so many guns? Almost as if you expect his decision making to be rational....

Interesting.

I find it much more interesting that without knowing almost any facts, you seem to think that you know what and how the guy was thinking, and it explains the whole scenario, when the possibilities are still endless at this point.

His need for the multiple guns in the hotel were most likely directly related to needing the barrels to cool down.

What this man did was evil. The media do gloss over that the number of total guns came not only from his house in Mesquite but also his house in Reno. Nevada is pretty rural when you get out of the cities. I would imagine many residents have a number of guns at their homes. Some people collect things.

so they can argue that citizens should only be allowed a certain amount of weapons.

He had 3 Daniel defense rifles.

Those alone could have easily handled the rate of fire that was being sustained.

Maybe he just didn't know any better but I'm not betting on that. He did seem slightly intelligent and presumably would have put some effort to plan.

Well, we don't know what exactly is being classified as a weapon either. He could have had a pocket knife, a fixed blade knife, a couple of cans of mace, and a taser that they counted as weapons.

It seems that our forefathers did not consider insanity when they allowed for the 2nd amendment. Let's just accept this as normal in the grand scheme of our growing and much more complicating society. Its not the guns alone that are the problem. Its when guns are in the hands of the insane is when it becomes a deadly toxic combination. We have no way to prevent this, so just accept this as part of Americana.
