Especially if they were certain that Hillary was going to win? I know they figured they would never get caught, but why risk it?

Think about how this would have played out if HRC had won last November.

My thought is that they wanted to brand Donald Trump and the Republican Party as traitors and untrustworthy by exposing the "collusion with Russia" after the election. Because they would control the DOJ and any FBI investigations, they could control the narrative.

Of course, colluding with Russia to overturn an election would undermine the trust in the Republican party, start a power struggle within the party, and could cause members to leave and join other parties.

I think this might have been the real intent of this plot to investigate Donald Trump.

This was premeditated plan to cripple the Trump administration and his agenda and hopefully lay the groundwork for impeachment.

It was the infamous 'insurance policy' - just in case the "40 year old man dropped dead,"

I think it was started as a way to defeat Trump but either they didnt get anything soon enough to drop during the general election, or they decided that they didnt need to muddy the waters (Obama probably didnt want that pandora's box opened unless absolutely necessary.)

Now, it is just being used the cripple the administration. And to hopefully evoke some sort of impeachable reaction.

She wasn't supposed to lose.

Once DJT won the primary, he got presidential daily briefings and access to white-hats unknown before. DJT said he'd contest an election and the dims when apeshet.
The Russian plan was either leaverage to keep DJT quiet or to break him as a warning to others.

This is why the Sessions attacks piz me off so bad. If DJT lost, Sessions future in the Senate would be over. He had everything to lose backing Trump. And Mobile AL? Home of the 35,000 deploable kick off party?Search Brookley Field and see what happened last we voted against the grain.

Collusion is not a crime, but could, and would be used as an impetus, amongst other nonsense, for impeachment.

Democrats know mid term history is on their side, so with the help of establishment R's, who loathe Trump, you could see this coming down the road.

AG Sessions, a Trump appointee and Republican, decided to recuse himself from any investigation of Russian hacking of our 2016 election.

Rod Rosenstein, a Trump appointee to asst AG, decided to appoint Mueller as a special counsel.

Robert Mueller is a lifelong Republican.

Shows you how expansive the Swamp is, doesn’t it? Trump’s made the mistake of surrounding himself with a Swamper or two and he’s paying dearly for those mistakes.

Obama announced it before we knew HRC lost. Remember he did an E.O. on the govt agencies charged in spreading the fake garbage muh russians? It was so she would win/discredit Trump make him a KGB spy. Nobody planned on HRC getting caught paying people to go to Trump's rallies and I ythink they thought the grabbing vagina would tank Trump.

I still think there is a JFK Trump insurance policy.

Are you that divorced from reality? Jeff Sessions, Rod Rosenstein, Meuller. Sessions and Rosenstein were appointed by Trump and they chose Meuller, a Republican.

This is exactly my point. The Democrats never expected to lose. If they had won, the investigation would have been a smear against Donald Trump and the RNC and there would not have been a counter narrative. No memos, dossier, criminal referrals, or OIG report would have have come out. It would have been a clean whitewash.

I think they did it for two reasons: to cast a shadow of doubt on Donald Trump during the general election, and to link Trump and the Republicans with the Russians in order to affect future elections.

Trumps win in the General election screwed everything up. Remember Hillary's comment that they would all be "hanging from nooses" if Trump won? She knew what was at stake. This current investigation is a race against time. They need to either find something to prosecute Trump for, or run out the clock with a never ending investigation until they can get back in power.

I still want the liberals to explain why The Osiah & Hilldog sent uranium to the evil empire. If Russia is truly the enemy then what reason do they have to approve the deal?

Hell, the only logical reasoning is quid pro quo. Hillary and company got paid. Either that or they are stupid.

Or I guess you could try to argue the Russians aren't really the enemy but you couldn't do that with a straight face after the last 18 months of claiming they are worse than Hitler.

Sounds like the actions of a group that had no plans to accept the results of an election.

When Trump refused to say if he would accept the results:
“That’s horrifying,” Mrs. Clinton replied. “Let’s be clear about what he is saying and what that means. He is denigrating — he is talking down our democracy. And I am appalled that someone who is the nominee of one of our two major parties would take that position.”
