I don’t agree with him that it’s the government’s job to take care of its people. It’s the people’s job to take care of themselves and pay a portion to the government so it can defend the country and do the several things that only a government can do.
People like your parents should be protected by buying catastrophic health insurance. Illegal immigrants should be deported regardless of whether they are a net positive or a net negative toward our prosperity (I think it is an obvious net positive).

How on Earth did we ever survive prior to this influx of illegal immigrants. Why did I and so many others think that American families could own a home, car and have prosperity with only one member of the household working? I've done some research and it suggests that when you flood a country with impoverished males of warfighting age--you create competition for housing, wages, education and even healthcare between those illegals and natural born citizens.

One, Given the percentage of illegals vs the entire US pop, and the total taxes collected, their fair share would have been 750 billion.
Two, the 96 billion mentioned included employer contributions, so its more like 50 billion.
Three, earned income tax credit is NOTORIOUS for illegals clawing back not only their tax but their employer contribution as well, it was nearly 60 billion last year.
Four, the last admin gave them SS numbers so they are collecting many benefits like WIC, SNAP, housing. Plus free education and hospital care.
Net net, they didnt contribute shat.
Next, the reason their crime rates are so low is because most major cities do not state crime by legal or illegal, so the very few, very few that do, are extrapolated and compared to the general population. Obviously the number looks low, in fact most of the crimes they commit are stated as if they are legal, further distorting the fact.
You will note, liberals always say "they have not been convicted". Of course not we just picked them up for crimes and deport them.
Summary, they dont contribute shat financially, they commit crimes at a much higher rate, and they are draining our social programs at an alarming rate.

This can all be summed up with: there are good people and bad people in every demographic.
I've worked with many people who all they've ever done wrong was come into the US illegally by turning themselves in at the border and have been here for many years paying taxes and going through the process. I have also seen many who snuck in and committed tons of crimes, including extremely heinous ones.
In a group of 11m plus people you will find all types.
