Seems like that would solve so many problems. nobody in congress votes his or her conscience. Its all how it will affect them politically and if it will help or hurt them back home in reelection. They never even had limit for president. Its amazing everyone stepped down after 2 terms until FDR.

The “founding fathers” didn’t have teen limits for Presidents.

The Federal government was never intended to be this powerful.

They gave people the power to elect them, but they never counted on us being so ignorant.

Because they didn't expect people to make careers out of it. They thought people would do their duty then go back to their regular lives.. Like most of them did.

Lack of Integrity, Honor, Humility, and Abundance of Greed.

Start with those and you are well on your way to understanding the modern politician.

You didn't get rich in public office once upon a time. Now, politician is an easier job than SSI Disability.

Because they didn't foresee people living until they were 100 and working into their 80s

The real reason is that the founding fathers never believed that a person would want to be a 'career' politician. It was viewed as a public service for a period of time and then move into normal life.

It is why there wasn't a term limit for presidents and why George Washington didn't stand for re-election even though he would have easily won.

The world is obviously a very different place today and being a politician is very much a 'career' for many members of congress.

Not even politically motivated anymore it’s how they are affected monetarily. It’s all about the money!

You have to remember, Congress was only in session for 3 months originally.

They gave people the choice of who to elect, and the freedom to deal with the consequences of their choices. What they didn't count on was mass media and global connectivity. That is where "reality" is skewed into whatever it is you want to call it on TV or the internet.

They didn’t live long enough to worry about term limits.

It was also a real pain in the arse to ride horses and buggies all the way to Washington. Nobody wanted to do that for decades.

Now, we have First Class flights and plush hotels. Times have changed.

Jefferson, Washington, Monroe, and Hamilton all died deep in debt. Being able to make a career out of this was absolutely unimaginable.

If our founding fathers could time travel this is the one issue that would shock them.

Our central government is too large and too powerful.

They never, ever, thought there would be career politicians. They saw politics as a service calling - go, meet, do what is needed and then return home to your true profession.

term limits are pretty anti-Democratic and anti-freedom

the FF didn't create a system so powerful that it would really matter

Freedom of choice, and really, the Founders were not terribly fond of the "people" having too much say . So many including Jefferson and Madison wanted a kind of aristocracy of the elected.

Plus,if you really want serious deep state shite, go ahead and do that. Rule by the bureaucrats.
