I keep reading the schools run by liberals complaints but I can't figure out why there aren't more conservatives in education.
What is the reason for this?

There are plenty in the disciplines that really matter.

Doesn't pay well enough...at any level.

Within 3 years of graduating college, I made more than my professors.

Why would anyone with a decent skillset/knowledge-base - and the confidence to get a good job - take that kind of money? Especially given that professors have paid for a PhD.

They are teaching in middle school and elementary school. College professors are liberals that thought a poetry degree was a good idea

One probable reason is that conservatives are more likely to be competitive and career-ambitious.

More women enroll in college than men---that's true for undergrad and grad.

Also, there are more women in America than men.

well you're also walking into the lion's den, esp in higher education

why go teach in university when you're going to be ostracized, criticized, taken for admin proceedings for any alleged misstep, and face a completely uphill battle in the tenure process? especially when you likely have a more economically viable path without all that bullshite

yes, the feminization of our primary and secondary education has created a gender gap in education

that should be a much more telling stat than it's spoken of

their are more conservatives in education than you think especially among coaches who also happen to teach classes
they are usually just not very vocal about it

also many choose to go into education because of coaching for instance if I want to coach a HS sport I must also teach class

no the salary isnt great but thats not why you choose that profession

Some aren't at school. They're home-schooling their kids.

I think it's more to do with the American culture. Men are expected to fend for themselves at a much earlier age than females. A 21yr old male living at home with his parents is looked down upon in America---this forces men to find work early to try and live up to the social norms of America--which in turn means bypassing college most times or going to college part time. Female's, on the other hand, are not subjected to the pressures of getting out and finding a job to provided for themselves as much as their male counterparts. Hell, I know many females with a degree and a full blown career still living with their parents because their parents want them to save a ton of money before venturing out on their own. Not the same story with men.

Also, it's much easier for a male without a degree to find a factory or industrial job that pays him a good salary than it is for a female.

The amount of oil field and industrial baws I know who live with their parents and spend all their money on trucks and hunting would shame your take.
