LBJ, a Democrat, started the welfare state. He was born in 1908. The boomers first year is 1945 so i'd say you have no fricking idea what you're talking about.
Our millennial friends aren’t very good with dates. A couple of pages ago they were whining about being born when the national debt was $30T.

Are you a Leftist? I’m trying to understand your post about Leftists rolling over boomers.
No
Your generation allowed the leftist takeover of every American institution. Now you blame millennials for living in a world that you created.

I think that’s a fair point to a degree. That said, you understand it’s been a while that millennials + GenX has had nearly twice as many voters as boomers, right? And so, for example, you guys cast the votes that elected Biden.
And by the way, I don’t blame millennials for anything. I just find it odd (and interesting) millennials see themselves as victims of boomers.

I don’t see myself as a victim to anyone, but I can’t stand to hear boomers attempt to completely absolve themselves of any blame.
This is really an irrelevant point when you consider it is your generation controlling every vessel in which millennials and Gen X receive progressive ideas developed by your generation beginning in the late sixties.

You may not realize how you come across in your posts (as well as the other millennials in this thread). You definitely seem to see your generations as victimized by boomers.
You mention blame - blame for what?

I can’t help but laugh at this. You’re arguing that sure, there may be 135 million millennials/GenXers and only 70 million boomers, but our representatives in Washington are boomers’ fault because boomers are putting shitty ideas in the minds of the 135 million 25 to 55 year olds.

Boomers had a golden ticket handed to them and left a shite sandwich for your average millennial.
What a retarded take. My boomer parents, aunts, and uncles grew up growing food and raising animals within the city just to feed themselves. The simple fact is that they worked. They weren't scared of hard labor like the pussified generations behind them.
Not one of the boomers I know went into their 20s without a job or college like so many of the loser generations now.
Sorry my parents' generation and us Gen Xers gave you millennial twats the greatest technology and standard of living anyone has ever known. Try not to be an ungrateful kunt your whole life.

Oh boy you can go frick yourself buddy
I was born in 1987 I have had abt 15 jobs and I have two college degrees and no college debt. A little bit of credit card debt due to a poor economy inflation that was caused by poor government policies made by BOOMERS.
At 35 years old I am a second time home owner and I actually built this house I live in now.
I have two paid off vehicle in the drive way and send my child to private school.
I’ve done nothing but bust my arse my entire life.
I’m a project manager for a concrete company and the funny thing is on the job I’m currently on EVERY supervisor including the superintendent of the job are all MILLENIALS. The job is moving along just fine on time and under budget. Its right beside the Amazon center on 85 at Steve Reynolds if you want to check up on us idiot millenials.
I also run a side business with my brother dealing in agriculture sales.
If you’ll remember it wasn’t millenials who crashed the economy in 2008, no that was boomers, and it wasn’t the boomers who built this nation either, nope that was your parents generation (the bad asses that fought in Ww2)and you reaped the benefits, got lazy and ruined it for the rest of us.
There’s plenty other millenials just like myself who are working and getting along just fine in a much worse economy than you came up in. I have friends who are business owners, lawyers, salesmen who do over a million a year in sales, all living and thriving in spite of the economy and world that your greedy arse generation created for us. So like I said frick you.

I knew they were bullshite it was just something to commemorate the season by. Just another jab for boomers to take at millenials but who was giving us these things? Haha BOOMERS. They were the parents the coaches and they owned the trophy shops that made them.

Don't forget about Gen-Xers.

LOL. The second house my grandparents paid for cost them $5000. By the time they retired, their combined income was $60k (1990) They were making 12-times what they paid for their middle-class home.
The game is rigged against young people. Everything is bid up. A starter home in this town is nearly $300,000.
In what universe could you see a young couple making $3,600,000 per year when they retire?
Thank you.
Nobody is saying that Boomers didn't have obstacles or that they didn't have to work hard to be successful.
They just had a much easier path, even with the obstacles that were presented at the time.

A lot of the resentment toward Boomers is because you inherited a wealthy, free, open country where a little work-ethic got you along just fine. College cost a couple hundred dollars a year. You could literally pay for tuition working for minimum wage.
quote:
Your tone-deafness about the privileges you took for granted only makes the Millennials bitching more reasonable.
Thank you.

. Seriously, anyone who things that a demographic generational classification "took power" and "did this, sniff sniff, and that to us..
They assumed power because it was "their turn". Like with the other golden paths offered, this one existed as well. It's the natural order of things. Gen X is assuming that role now and one day Millennials will be in charge.
quote:
What decisions are you making with that "generational power"
Millennials are still decades away from having the power en masse, but if we could stop Medicare and SS funding/payments today that would be a start.

Maybe if you could explain how what you say is true it would help those that don't believe the whining is legit.
I did earlier.
Real wage growth has stalled since the 70s and inflation has destroyed the dollar's value since then. Also there are niche areas of extreme increases in prices, which, sadly, are often gatekeeper variables for society (college, housing, etc.).
So you have to do more (undergrad, grad school, etc.) to make less, comparatively, and it costs a hell of a lot more to get bona fide. Then, when you spend all that extra money to get economic opportunity, you get paid less and everything else costs more.
The majority of boomers had the opportunity to get unskilled jobs that didn't require degrees and support an entire family with that single salary.

Millennials and GenZ are their own greatest obstacle. You want the easier path? Cool here it is:
Don’t go into debt, don’t buy on credit, work for what you want, don’t do drugs, don’t have kids before you can afford them, and make better choices.
That’s the magic formula. Live within your means and don’t be a dumbass. You don’t get to start at the top or even the middle and being an adult is not going to be fun for a decade or two.
Instead millennials and GenZ wants to wallow in debt and make terrible decisions. They chose lifestyle over living within their means, and suffer the consequences of their piss poor expectations.
The boomer path wasn’t easier, they were just better prepared to be adults.
