Those between the ages of 20 and 40 are struggling with the economic situation in our country right now. You can make fun of them, or you can try to help organize politically to fix it.
Where are all these poor suffering fools?? My four kids, their friends, my nieces, nephews, children of close friends.... They all seem to functioning just fine. Did some make bad choices here and there? Sure they did, but they picked themselves up and moved on. Their one commonality? They DIDN'T FACKIN WHINE over everything that didn't work out for them along the way.

Not to mention boomers were about 10 years old in 1960.
After the trauma of finding out my nickname was not my real name and did not start with a 'J' I proceeded with learning all about Boomer superiority and how that remains true throughout all the generations to come; and how we are to rule all forthcoming generations.
They also taught us how to learn when the big Boomer Convention would be held and then we would choose how our magnificent power was to be used in control of the inferior further generations.
So, be ready to accept our control. Learn to accept that our benefit is what is the important thing.
Millenials, we own you and will own you even years past our presence here. No secrets let out, Boomers - remember the Convention.

I wanted to use 1980, but the data from 1960 was more readily available. I’m doing basic armchair economic calculations between my two jobs, sorry.
I could go more in depth if you’d like. I was just trying to point out how the argument that homes are larger now doesn’t account for most of the increases in housing costs.

And I'm not the one here bitching about my life. I actually feel sorry for you. I would have hated myself if I believed the shite you do at your age.
Very few here are bitching about their life. I’m doing quite well. But once again you can’t seem to follow the discussion.

Housing and healthcare are special cases. Not only is their inelastic demand for both but the way we pay for them distorts both markets. I actually don’t know this answer but what is the cost of a mortgage over that same time frame?

We’ll go ahead and add your 4 examples to the data set. Now go take your nap.

So you're doing well. We've had two MDs and an investment banker chime in on this thread. I think an attorney, too. A few others have alluded to doing real well, owning their homes outright, have cars, etc. But you all have come onto this thread about how boomers gave you no opportunities and made life so hard?
You're right. When the discussion is that kind of retard, it's hard to follow.

You’re literally doing equal and opposite to what he’s doing. You’re taking an average and crafting a narrative about how hard life is in 2021 for millennials

The rate on my first mortgage in 1990 was 11.5%. I thought it was a steal.

Damn, somebody tell my son this!! Silly boy thinks he's supporting his family on one income while my daughter in law stays home and does a fantastic job with their kids. They're struggling and don't even know it! Of course they don't rent... They own their house... Guess he should be whining more.
How much did you give them?
Where do they live?

Well, by going with 1960 you pretty much eliminated boomers from the analysis.

Nobody is arguing otherwise. There was inflation in the '70's and early '80's that make Biden's economy (so far) look tame. And what's built into a home has changed dramatically, too. Homes aren't just bigger.
Also, to do what you're attempting you'd need to consider interest rates, and probably somewhere along the line factor in the boom/bust cycles.

So you're arguing that you're super duper special?
Seriously, why is it so hard for you to acknowledge/accept that your mom and dad plopped you right down on 3rd base next to them?
Where did this desire to be a victim come from? It didn't exist when I was your age - not like it does today.
