There are still some corners of Americana that proggies have yet to destroy. The USA is a very big place, and while in California they’re pretending to be shocked that importing the 3rd world means you look like the 3rd world, in other places life continues on as it has for Americans for decades.

Our all boy Cubscout pack raced our Pinewood Derby this weekend. We had a good turn out with around 50 cars, plus an adult and sibling division. The boys had a blast and eagerly watched their homemade and self decorated derby cars slide down the same track we’ve used for 20 years. Everyone stood and saluted the flag as the bear scouts conducted a great flag ceremony to open the festivities. The adults had coffee and chatted in the Church’s gym while the races went on. We had a local SWAT team come and judge the cars for design and flair. My son won fastest time for his grade and seeing the pride in his eyes was a special moment (he did 75% of the work for his car). Not a mask to be seen.

Life is still good, frens.

I raced pinewood as a cub scout and helped my son build one years later. Later in BSA we went on a 50 mile canoe trip on the Buffalo River in AR together, and a 50 mile hike in the San Juan mountains in CO.

Great American tradition!

We have a local chuck wagon race where they still honor the confederate army, sing the national anthem, all stand and remove hats, and they say prayer before the events kick off. They even pray the liberals will lose every election.

One of my fondest father/son memories was winning the pinewood derby with a car that I mostly built myself. My son did some of the painting.

I laughed.

Mine did most of the painting, the sanding (he enjoyed the power sander), and filing and polishing the axles. I hammered in the axles.

I remember my dad, a Podiatrist, helping me grind my big rectangle of pine wood on some “grinding” machine in his office. Then we painted it. Then I didn’t win lol. But I’ll never forget it.
