Who will the establishment GOP apparatus machine try to push through in the 2024 primary?

Some early candidates I bet they are enticed by

governor charlie baker of Massachusetts

governor larry hogan of Maryland

That Kingzinger dude from illinois

I don't think they waste Haley except as a spoiler for Trump. (Which is laughable.)

Romney definitely thinks he has a chance. He aligned his Senate term to coincide with 2024 and has been openly prostrating himself for the left since Trump got in office, a ploy he seems to believe will win him votes on both sides.

These two will not run. They're too liberal to survive a national primary. It may work to get elected as a republican in liberal blue states like Massachusetts and Maryland but it's not going to work in a Presidential primary.

More likely he gets redistricted out of his seat by illinois democrats. He needs to worry about that instead of fighting Trump.

Will definitely run and I believe that she will be wasting her time.

The biggest flaw I see with Nikki Haley is that she is way too impulsive and has very poor political instincts and questionable judgement.

There are more than a few moments over the years where she went all in on believing a hoax that was being pushed by the left and released public statements in support of it only for them to be exposed as fraudulent soon enough.

Examples include Jussie Smollet and Bubba Watson.

It's one thing to be moderate and establishment and that's fine, I won't begrudge you of your political beliefs. But it's entirely another thing and quite damaging for you to be an absolute idiot about those beliefs by not waiting to make sure the situation is legit and completely verified so you don't needlessly antagonize and gaslight people about it.

If she's that impulsive with small time situations like those, how would that translate to matters of national security and economic matters where lives are at stake along with trillions of dollars in economic activity?

Mitt won’t run again for President. He may do some focus group testing. It won’t be encouraging enough for him to get embarrassed again.

There's a reason for that. Feature, not a bug.

I don't think Haley's playing second fiddle to anyone. And Pence is too complicated now and too Christian.

To answer this question you have to think like the Washington establishment of the GOP would think. That means not thinking like a Republican voter. You are looking for someone the establishment thinks is edgy and cool enough for the Trump voter but in reality the Trump voter sees as just another Republican politician. Right now no one fits that description from both points of view like Nikki Haley. The establishment will think they are bold and fresh for picking a woman the voters see her as someone more willing to fight for her political career than they are to fight for want the voters want.

This is 100% accurate...

And I am fully prepared to completely sit out the election if these clowns are at the front.

Haley seems to have the establishment support as a "way too early prediction" candidate, but I'm tired of voting for who the establishment wants.

Besides, she's merely the living embodiment of John McNoname. Marco is a snake in the grass and Sasse is just as bad.

They think we're gonna fall for the same old "get in line and vote for [insert name] because [insert name] is still better than the democratic candidate!" BS.

But they're wrong. We're tired of the establishment.

Basically, if I see Sasse, Romney, Haley, Rubio, Collins and Murkowski, etc. all lining up to support candidate, I know who NOT to vote for.

Marco is a good bet, no way on Sasse they aren't that dumb and I think I would have said Haley but she done F'ed up.

The establishment names they will try for... Rubio, Scott, Pence, Abbot and maybe a few more names we don't know yet.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I don't think we should ignore that Haley's performance in regards to Trump is 100% consistent with her typical behavior.

You're the biggest establishment GOP hack on here, so if you want to know, just read your own posts.

Nikki Haley will run
Tim Scott will be asked to run, probably won't
Mittens will try to play Kingmaker, may run if he can't find anyone that will accept his endorsement
Marco for sure

The GOPe will see 2024 as a losing proposition, and would probably love to see Cruz or Rand get rebuked on a national scale.

Cruz has gone too far MAGA for the GOPE to accept him again.

Mittens already lost once. They aren't going to bring him back again.
