Belinda Davis (D), Michael DiResto (R), Barbara Freiberg (R), Ricky Sheldon (R), and Mallory Mayeux (L) are running in the primary for Louisiana House of Representatives District 70.

This seat is vacant because Rep. Franklin Foil (R) is term limited and is running for a vacant senate seat.

Freiberg is a current EBR City Councilwoman and likely as such has the most name recognition.

However, I cannot vote for her. She was the deciding vote to implement the Council on Aging property tax increase about two years ago after she told me to my face she was going to vote against levying the tax if the COA didn't make a change in its top management. They didn't make a change and yet she voted for it.

Davis, the lone Democrat, is an associate professor at LSU and belongs to every SJW, bleeding-heart organization you can think of. So, I definitely can't vote for her.

That leaves my choice to be between Michael DiResto (R), Ricky Sheldon (R), or Mallory Mayeux (L).

I don't know any of these people and, frankly, have never heard of them until this election.

If you know any of them, please give me your opinion. Otherwise, I guess I'll just not vote in this election.

I live in district 70 too. I would never vote for Barbara Freiburg for anything and was not really impressed with either of the other Republicans. I voted for DiResto because he seemed the most palatable of the two. Don’t know anything at all about Mallory Mayeux.

Freiburg is terrible.

You have to hope someone here knows one of the others.

I feel your pain, I had to decide between Cleo Fields and Pat Smith for Senator.

ETA: did I see an ad where Foil endorsed someone? If you liked Foil that may help you out.

Known DiResto for quite a while. He worked as Richard Baker's press guy. Very intelligent, as conservative as they come. Good guy, too. I voted for him.

Pretty much this. I don't know anything about the two other you mention so I can't make a comparison, but given what you have posted on this board, it very much seems like Diresto is a good match for you.

I voted Diresto. Freiberg is essentially a Democrat.

That’s good to know. Glad I voted for him. I think it might be him and Freiburg (ugh) in a runoff.

Thanks, that’s very helpful. It’s exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to get.

I’ll vote for him.

With only one Democrat in the race I’d be surprised if she (Davis) doesn’t make the runoff. All those professors and sjw’s who live in district 70 will likely coalesce around her.

I think it will come down to a runoff between Frieberg and Davis. That would suck majorly.

I hope that’s not the scenario. That would be just awful.

I voted for Mallory Mayeux.

DiResto is anti-St. George, Freiberg is a no because of the COA issue already discussed.

I hope it's not what happens, too. And, yes, it would be awful.

I understand the dilemma but lesser of the evils choice will set you free.
