Jesus said-

Luke 12:49

I have come to cast fire on the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!

Luke 12:51

Do you suppose I came to grant peace on the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division!

I've got no problem with either of those, if that's what you are going for.

It’s a great question and one that completely changed my life three years ago.

TD doesn’t seem to like threads about JC. Guilt, fear or worse- hatred, drives many of the responses- and the hasty removal of these type threads. Keep it up though. It is our commission. God keeps record of how many times we have been persecuted in His name. Just plant the seed.

I know I worship the One True, Triune God, the second person of which said those things. Is this a trick question?

Jesus also described Himself as "the way, the TRUTH, and the life". It is the Truth that will come and arise to be contested in monumental fashion. Our ideological fight is morality-based. Both sides believe they hold the truth. Truth has become subjective.

It will be pain that opens the eyes of the folk. It will be Love that frees us and Jesus that pulls Humanity out of the fires of our OWN making. IMO.

Jesus is talking about our baptism and conversion being a spark that would ignite a fire of authentic Christian holiness within us.

quote:

Luke 12:51

Do you suppose I came to grant peace on the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division!

He is speaking of there being moments where being on fire for Christ will lead to head-on collisions with those we love. i.e. a son becoming a Christian in an atheist household being at odds with his father, or in my case, converting to Catholicism and almost being disowned by my Protestant parents, although that's probably not the best analogy.

Good News: It’s not too late for you if you have been worshipping the creations instead of the Creator.

He loves you. He sacrificed His son for you. That’s how much He wants you. But, He will not force you.

If you think you’re going to get a pass playing an ignorance card, you’ll have the rest of eternity to regret that folly.

And the Lord will not be mocked. If you choose to live your life worshipping money, stuff, fame, fun…. You are choosing those things above Him. That is your choice, not His.

Note: This was not intended to be directed at the OP.

All of these observations seem to be of sound judgement and make sense. However, Jesus spoke in parables. While your interpretation appears to me to be accurate of the times he was in, he was also speaking of his second coming.

for starters, his name is Jesus. If you think his name is Jesus, you should at least pronounce it Yesus bc that's how that name was pronounced when the first edition of the King James version was printed.

as far as Luke 12:51, I guess you are saying you don't understand that he was forcing people to take sides. there are only 2 kingdoms in this world: satans and christ's. for those of us who select Christ's kingdom, we are putting ourselves at war with the rest of the world. many Christians have already been martyred, beaten, burned alive, etc after they were turned in by family members, neighbors, and others around them.

Dear God,

I pray that you will soften the heart of Thermal9221, Lord, that his ears may hear your voice, and that he come to know you, Father. I ask that you create a pure heart in him, O Lord, and renew a steadfast spirit in him. I ask for Your love to be poured over him, and for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen

This response is more than anything you’ve ever seen from the god you worship.

Sometimes we have to make a choice..to follow God or go along to get along. When we stand against abortion and the teaching of perversion in our schools we are choosing to obey God rather than seeking the approval of people.

You ever think about how insane that is? An omnipotent deity has the power to show itself to every individual in a way that will reach them, but chooses not to. Instead, it asks people to ignore their reason and accept something fantastical and unseen on pain of eternal damnation.

Yeah, I know, "he works in mysterious ways." I guess that's why Abraham climbed Moriah with his son Isaac and was prepared to kill him because Yahweh/El Shaddai/Ius Pater said so. Would you murder your child if God said to?

It just seems like if you cared deeply about the souls of your Creation that you would go the extra mile for the more skeptical of us. There is no shortage of people who want to believe.
