Republicans can no longer win a base election in Georgia. That wasn't true 8 years ago.
One of my favorite things about this board's posters is that they'll acknowledge that demographics is destiny and yet they'll believe that the only way Trump lost Georgia is through election fraud and the massive migration into the state over the last few years did not hurt him at all.

If they are cheating they can’t get away with a dem President every single election forever. That’s too obvious.

How do we know DeSantis wont betray us once in office?
The guy put his balls on the table during peak-Covid hysteria and became the model for every other Governor in the country. If he hadn’t done that, it might’ve been months before that lockdown early Covid lockdown ended. Yet you’re worried he might become a cuck? He has no track record of being an establishment goon. This isn’t like W in 99 where the establishment fronted a candidate with a folksy demeanor and a pair of cowboy boots.
Some of y’all try way too hard to make perfect the enemy of good.

There is no reason to tie Desantis to Trump's brand
Correct.
If Trump is the nominee in 2024, that means DeSantis serves out his 2nd term as Governor and ends it in 2026, announces a Presidential campaign in Spring-Summer of 2027 and spends 18 months on the campaign trial for the 2028 Presidential election.
Joe Biden was a private citizen for 4 years before he became President. Reagan was out of office for 6 years before he beat Jimmy Carter.
Why on God's green Earth would you want to waste a stud with big star power in a figurehead ceremonial position where you absolutely cannot overshadow the President?

Take out their ideology and world view. Ron DeSantis is on a track that is absolutely identical to 43 in the late 90s.
43 was the biggest GOP front runner for years and he did indeed win the nomination and went on to become President.
The same can happen with DeSantis.

The Obama-Trump voter is a very real demographic and they will go back to voting democrat or not voting at all quicker than you think. These people hate traditional Republicans.
Trump had a chance to get even more of those people to the polls.
They are what we call white working class voters who are not college educated. They're low propensity voters. There are 42 million of them and if Trump had registered just 10% of them and got them to the polls, he would've won the rust belt by comfortable margins. Those voters are what won 2016 for Trump and he needed to double down on them.
Instead, Trump allowed the RNC braintrust running his campaign to focus on a mythical BLEXIT that was never ever going to happen and saw Trump end up doing several points worse with white man compared to 2016.

Oh, on that I absolutely agree. He’s positioned just like W. If Trump steps aside (which I don’t think will happen) then DeSantis has the clearest path to the nomination since Bush. I was talking about how Bush though wasn’t really some Texas cowboy.

I think its a matter of Republicans being dead at the national level right now without a proven candidate like Trump who can cobble together a coalition of low propensity voters.
2024 will be the last electoral cycle in which Trump will be a factor regardless of whether he runs or not, whether he wins the election or not. It's the last stop of his political career.
After 2024, Donald Trump will no longer be a plausible candidate for public office and you will find yourself in the position of having to replace Trump.
And you're here doing everything you can to hold onto Trump as long as you possibly can that includes giving him a 3rd bite at the apple while you're absolutely not open to other candidates.
It's weird.

Like John Bel Edwards saying (and lying about) being a conservative blue dog dixiecrat that loves guns, hates abortion, is very socially conservative and basically a republican?
And you swallowed all of that bullshite hook, line and sinker?

I am old enough to remember classic Reagan moments when he stood up to liberal mobs too. But he eventually changed.
Has Desantis been offered 1 billion dollars before? Because he will be once he is in the running for the Presidency. Will his convictions stand strong then?
Willing to bet your children's future on it?
Every previous President has sold out to the establishment. Every single one of them. Except Trump.
Every single President emerged far richer after their Presidency was over. Except Trump. He lost money.
Some of you have forgotten everything Trump did for us. He didn't lose the election either, it was stolen from him.
Don't come crying when one day Desantis presents his "compassionate conservative" amnesty plan.
After he is elected of course.

I like Trump but he’s damaged goods at this point. Maybe Desantis can grab a few women voters by the P to the poll with his good looks vs just talking about it.

I fear for this country if Biden/Harris gets another 4 (or God help us 8) years. So the GOP candidate needs to win in 2024. DeSantis in my opinion gives us the best shot at that. So yes, I’m absolutely willing to bet my children’s future on that.
In 2015 Trump had no record and was a former Democrat who had the Clintons at his wedding, yet everyone here put their faith in him from the get go to govern conservatively. But we have to be skeptical about DeSantis even though he has a proven track record?

I say Trump wins a house seat, in Florida, in 22… made Speaker of the house, Biden/Harris impeached, Trump is President, Desantis is VP, then President for the next 8 years with Cruz as VP, then Cruz as President for the next 8. But, to answer your question, Trump- if he wants it.
Posted on 7/12/21 at 7:32 pm to mouton
DeSantis easily. He’s a more polished version of DJT and probably the only candidate that could unite the GOPe & Trump factions of the party.

It's such a hypocritical double standard and yet that is exactly what they're going to do.
It's not fair but that's how attached they are to Trump. That's the draw of personality appeal.

The answer was given in November. Trump will not run he knows he can’t overcome the elements.
Posted on 7/12/21 at 7:43 pm to jcaz
Yes they can since the rino Republicans did nothing for Trump concerning fraud. As of right now, they are resisting at every turn with election reform. 2022 are just months and the clock is ticking.

Speaking of bullshite, remember when the GOP ran a known adulterer who talked about 'family values', and probably actually smelled like bullshite since he was an alleged diaper fetishist? But that was your guy, right? Now I assume you're a Ron guy because all you know how to trust are career politicians.

I love President Trump; he's the heart and soul of the non-Rhino Republican Party but Desantis is younger, has been a successful Governor in Florida and has a whole lot less baggage than Trump. As such I would think Desantis has a much better chance of winning in 2024.
