Like a war zone': 6 killed, 12 wounded in New Orleans' bloodiest weekend in 10 years

New Orleans must obtain black leadership to combat this white supremacy. A Mayor, a town council, a police chief that are black, plus remove more monuments and renaming of streets.

Oh wait, those measures already exist. So what is the real reason for New Orleans crime?

After Cantrell cancelled Mardi Gras in 2021, NOLA residents decided to turn their houses/front yards into “house floats” with themed decorations in order to celebrate Mardi Gras while “socially distancing.”

This particular house—the “Wedding Cake House” on St. Charles Ave.—had a Jurassic Park theme, hence the Dino in the photo.

Because many NOLA residents (excluding myself) seemed totally OK with the mayor’s ridiculous, reactionary, and over-cumbersome measures, residents like the ones at this house believed the mayor was “keeping them safe.”

The irony is that violent crime has skyrocketed under this mayor’s watch. But hey, at least the City cares about Covid optics.

It is really sad what has happened to that city. I used to visit and have alot of fun. Unfortunately it isn't worth the risk of being killed.

This is so ‘yawn.’ What do you expect? Of course this is taking place when you have woke liberal Democrats running anything. This is as common as the sunrise everyday. More proof of mental illness that won’t be addressed. And even more proof that people that vote for this are mentally ill and insane.
Doing (voting) the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Those idiots down there are getting what they deserve.

We can trace the beginning of the downfall of New Orleans back to May, 1970. That's when Moon Landrieu took over as mayor. That's 52 straight years of BAD leadership. Since then, we've had the likes of Ernest and Marc Morial, Ray Nagin, Mitch Landrieu and Latoya Cantrell. No one should be surprised at the current state of affairs. Who you vote for MATTERS!

Zero accountability within their community.

We would be better served providing grants for people to relocate out of these shitholes and knocking them down rather than pumping money into them. Nobody owns anything in these communities so there is no pride, regardless if you put a Whole Foods lite down the street

It's been 40 years since I've been to Algiers. All I got to say is that "the more things change, the more things stay the same."

It has nothing to do with the place, and it has everything to do with the people in the place. Move them someplace else and that place becomes Algiers in no time. Every major city is like this. I think a more accurate explanation is that people with a low IQ have a tendency to act on impulse.

And black wannabes like Helena Moreno are even worse than anyone because they pander to blacks; literally do and say anything to get themselves in the good graces of black people.

Not until outsiders came bitching about statues did NOLA really have a race issue, and since then, it really doesn’t now.

NOLA has a crime issue. Race relations in NOLA have always been better than the rest of the country.

Obviously it’s “ghost guns”. That’s the current carrot on the stick.
