Whistleblower Protections

Can anyone cite the specific legal protections to which an alleged IC whistleblower is entitled?
My understanding, certainly could be wrong, is that all the law requires is that no adverse job action can be taken in retaliation. Nothing about protecting identity. Which is why I’m puzzled that Shifty goes apoplectic at trying to hide his identity...why is that?

The IG must protect the WB identity but it isn’t illegal for the media to report it

What’s pissing off even more is that we’re told over and over again that there’s no legal standing where he is allowed anonymity yet all the republican cucks are afraid to say his name. They’re either lying or cowards.

Also, there is some language that the IG isn't bound to protect the identity, if is likely to figured out. My understanding, the legal bar for protecting the WB identity is very low.
