Just want to clarify.

Is it only okay when they are running a campaign against a Democrat? Or does it have to be during a tight general election campaign?

How critical is it to pretend that the opposition is a secret foreign operative for spying on them to be okay?

Only when the political opponent is literally Hitler.

The wiretaps don't exist. If they did, Obama didn't order them. If he did order them, it was perfectly legal and justified.

The corollary is what kind of criminal acts am I automatically absolved from simply because I decide to run for office against the current party in power?

If only there were some adjudicative body with a defined threshold of when the wiretapping would be acceptable...

It's only acceptable when someone is running against Hillary Clinton or another democrat messiah.

It's never acceptable when the people doing the spying are Republicans.

Only Barack Obama is allowed to wire tap people and get away with it. Like the times he did it to the press and the German chancellor. Nothing wrong here, just justified.

No criminal acts found....but the fishing expedition continued.

quote:

To summarize, reporting indicates that, prior to June 2016, the Obama Justice Department and FBI considered a criminal investigation of Trump associates, and perhaps Trump himself, based on concerns about connections to Russian financial institutions. Preliminary poking around indicated that there was nothing criminal involved. Rather than shut the case down, though, the Obama Justice Department converted it into a national-security investigation under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). FISA allows the government, if it gets court permission, to conduct electronic surveillance (which could include wiretapping, monitoring of e-mail, and the like) against those it alleges are “agents of a foreign power.”

Two more attempts were made to spy on Trump after the above. The first FISA request was denied. The second was not.

It probably still wouldn't have been ok until he picked literally Tojo to be his running mate.

When you start believing the media hype that Hillary was going to win. Therefore no consequences if caught.

Not the FISC. Fewer than 20 warrants have been turned down ever. Forever ever. Out of almost 40,000.

One of ones turned down was the 2nd of 3 attempts to spy on the Trump campaign in summer 2016.

If their were credible, and I mean real evidence, that a campaign was acting as a puppet of a foreign power, I would be all for it. But, once you do it, you better find the evidence, because that make you no better than a dictatorship. There should be incontrovertible evidence of other than the wiretaps. The wiretaps should be for building a stronger case, not making the case.

Looks like they just leaked some "gotchas" to the press with it.
