FWIW I think they are talking about glaciers melting which would add to the oceans.

ETA: not that I think its going to happen. It's just going to be their argument to you.

But like all these places that are already below sea level like New Orleans and much of Florida will be underwater

Its totally a disaster no one saw coming

When ice melts it actually takes up less volume. True story.

I am disappoint.

I came here expecting this to be about sky screamers after the election.

Well said Op. Sadly, logic and reason are not their strong suit.

Funny how melting Sea Ice is major flood concern.

Been using the exact same public boat ramps in Sabine that my dad and grandfather used. I can assure you we don't submerge the truck to get to the ramps. They still high and dry as they were 65 years ago.

If we’re just talking about sea ice then water levels should go down with the melt due to ice being less dense than water. The area of displacement would get smaller.

But then again the sea ice would rise above ocean levels slightly so it would probably end up being a wash.

I'd agree with them. However, glaciers aren't sea ice.

They are arguing the ice shelves that break off are going to raise the sea level? The only additional mass would be the ice sticking above the water that would add once melted. Which is minimal in comparison.

ETA: I didnt take into account the density aspect. Ah whatever.

Liberals melting in 2017 has caused severe flooding and will continue for the foreseeable future!

A floating glacier already displaces it’s weight in water, so by definition (because it’s weight in water = volume of displacement) it can’t add to a rise in sea level.

Everyone better get another lift done on their trucks. Water level may come up a mm or so.

To be fair, in their theory, the ice isn't in the drink already. If you put more ice in a full glass, it will overflow.

But yes, it's all bullshite anyway.
