I never understand these threads. Both sides of any issue have people like this. But in this board, the opposition is disproportionately smaller. So while they do it, it's kind of disingenuous to complain about it, when it's not exclusive to them and they are too small to make a big impact.

Now if you changed it to "when did the board become the gotcha board," then I'm with you 100%.

It was a response to the months of this board being a combination of conservative "gotcha's" and Trump cheer-leading.

Gotcha's are so much easier than actual thoughtful, respectful discussion. Since both sides are complete hypocrites, Gotcha's are as plentiful as the sand on all of the beaches on the world. They think they're exposing hypocrisy, but they're really just clogging the board with nonsense. Why? Because nonsense, trolling, and cheerleading are far easier than learning.

It's far easier to criticize and flame threads than it is to engage in rational, respectful, fact-based discussion about solutions. That requires a respect for the opinions of others, a belief that even seemingly irrational opinions are actually rooted in experienced-based logic, and a genuine curiosity of what experiences contributed to that logic. Without that respect and intellectual curiosity, there can be no learning.

A board without learning is just a flaming trollfest, i.e. every message board and comment section and opinion section and editorial news show in the entire world.
