Former Florida deputy indicted for allegedly planting drugs during traffic stops scheduled for trial in May

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A former Florida deputy accused of planting drugs on unwary drivers during bogus traffic stops while being recorded by his own body camera is scheduled to go on trial next month.

Zachary Wester, a former Jackson County deputy whose career in law enforcement came crashing down in 2018 after the allegations came to light, was indicted in 2019 on a total of 52 counts, including charges of racketeering, official misconduct, perjury, fabricating evidence, false imprisonment and possession of drugs. The charges stemmed from Wester’s arrests of 11 different people.

In another of the cases, Wester stopped a woman with two kids in the car because one of her brake lights was broken, according to arrest reports. After a search of the vehicle, Wester claimed several baggies with suspected meth were found on the front console under her wallet. She denied it was hers. But Wester arrested her for felony possession and — because kids were present — child endangerment.

I guess the arrested parties' only recourse is to sue the PD and perhaps the City itself? Personally, he should get his arse kicked then go straight to the electric chair to get zapped twice for good measure. It's infuriating that those we trust to protect and serve would do this

He should go on trial, and if convicted, be sentenced to prison time.

Is this a trick question?

Throw him in the middle of the yard of a violent prison and look the other way.

As these types of stories surface, I can absolutely understand some folk's distrust of police. You interact with 99 good, honest cops and 1 dickhead like this, you're not going to remember the 99 good times.

That's where I'm at as well. Had a friend who was pulled over by a copper that actually lived in my neighborhood. He was being the greaseball that he always was when she was pulled over. He asked her for her number, she rebuffed him, so he wrote her 3 tickets

She had me come with her to contest the tickets and ALL OF THIS came out infront of him and the judge. It was glorious. Judge dismissed all 3 tix

A lengthy prison term at a minimum. What was this guy getting out of framing people for drug posession? And what dumbass would record himself planting drugs on people?

His brother-in-law’s cousin is probably the contractor running the local prison.

That's a problem if that is the end of the story.

Same amount of prison time his victims would have received.

He should have to serve each and every term that he his guilty of falsely implicating on other people. 52 counts served consecutively should keep his arse in prison for a good long while.

No. Throw him in the middle of a national fraternal order of police convention with written letters of immunity for all in attendance except him.

Trust me when I tell you that honorable cops despise dirtbags like this guy.

Well.. in this case... to keep stupidity from reproduction, mandatory sterilization should be the immediate thing done prior to any other sentence.
