When he finally gets a chance to answer these charges, here's his statement:
"Mr. Chairman, thank you for the opportunity to speak once again. I will not be answering questions, because, quite frankly, there are no questions to answer.
I have no doubt that Dr. Ford had some kind of awful experience at the hands of some teenage boy, but I was not that boy. I truly feel terrible for the pain that was inflicted on her and wish it hadn't happened to her or any woman. Again, I am not the person responsible for her pain.
While I believe she experienced this horrifying incident, I am certain this is simply a case of mistaken identity. I did not do to her what she alleges, and I have never done that to any woman. Perhaps one day, she'll find the person responsible and get some measure of relief from her anguish.
Thank you for your time."
Such a statement shows empathy while still defending his good name, and by not taking questions he keeps the circus from putting up its tents.

Sorry, cutest of the initial ones that came up when I searched “confused lab dog”.
