Reductions in regulations helps bit. Too many are afraid to actually cut rather than merely reduce the rate of growth.

You think there are a bunch of GOP fan boys in here?

Both parties suck balls.

The Swamp is real. Feel what you may about Trump but he's right about the Swamp.

Deep down we all knew it but giving it a name was effective.

DC needs a purge.

Not enough that's for sure, but I can only imagine what would have happened if Obama had been left uncheck for 8 years.

If you think it's bad now, it would have been this bad times ten.

Nothing.

They have grown it, albeit at a slower rate than the Democrat Party.

Elect Trump as President.

- Reduce EPA by 50%.
- Leave unnecessary positions in all divisions unfilled.
- Cut programs in the DoEd
- etc

Trump passed an Ex. Order to cut the EPA in half by the end of his term.

He just said frick hiring 400 APPOINTED positions in his first year...saving millions and millions. This has trickled down to reduce the overall government employee headcount....

I would suggest that it begins during the next Senate elections.

I'm not hopeful Americans will do shite about it though.

The same ole corrupt faces will win if they run.

The GOP has been for big government since the Civil War. They just support a different form of big government than the Democrats.

Sometimes you have to wonder if leftists have any brain cells at all.

Stick with me now. When, to your knowledge, have democrats EVER advocated for shrinking the federal government? If honest, which I understand is difficult for leftists, the answer is "not in our lifetimes."

So, your answer is, probably a significant percentage of times the GOP has successfully thwarted the plans, wishes, dreams, and legislation of the democrat party. Just because the federal government didn't actually get any smaller is in no way related to socialist democrat efforts to make it ever larger, more powerful, and centralized.

How much of a debate is going on today over spending?

Very little. A dead political issue.

This should be #2 after keeping us safe (Defense).

We have a spending issue that is insane to most of the country.

A Gallup poll in 2013 regarding shutdown.

47% of respondents thought it was about political gain.
37% of respondents thought it was about principles

Half the country, almost, sees through the BS and still the beat goes on.

The simplicity of this question also ignores the fact that any reduction in the federal government to democrats means decimating our military, while adding layer upon layer of bureaucracy. Essentially shitting on their Constitutionally mandated purpose. Here's my shocked face.

And inversely, expansion of the federal government, which socialist democrats delight in flogging republicans with, includes rebuilding our military and defense, which the Marxists had previously done their best to destroy.
