Over the last decade and some change we’ve basically seen any conservative power in high density areas totally evaporate. And we’re seeing the suburbs trend the same way as they increase density.

Cities like Phoenix, Dallas, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, etc… used to be conservative in their overall tilt. Sure the mega cities have always been pretty liberal but you still had some big time cities going conservative.

Is it the continuing increased density that made these areas more reliant on big government? It seems like cities are growing so I don’t think it’s a conservative flight to the suburbs.

They all seem to be trending one way and that’s towards the progressive version of American liberalism.

Immigration from outside country, migration from liberal areas, and the out right "purchasing" of local legislators and leaders. Oddly enough, our tax payer money is funneled through people like Soros who then places his commies in power.

I'm not sure if cities are growing. Metro areas maybe, but not sure about cities.

And nearly all are run by one political party. Makes you wonder if they truly care about the people.

Liberals move to conservative cities because those cities are always better, but can never admit to themselves that the reason those cities are better is BECAUSE of conservative governance. They then vote in liberals and complain about how they "heard this city was great" but "it's as bad as the city I moved from." Rinse. Repeat.

Government education and a new generation of voters highly concentrated in a small area. Yuppies.

Add OKC and Tulsa to that list.

They're purple and going blue faster than anyone knows.

Even medium sized Southern cities are no longer conservative. The only one I can think of is Greenville, SC. Maybe Augusta?

This is a two-way street.

So the blame can't be laid solely at the feet of the politicians.

More often than not, politicians are extensions of their constituency.

I can’t speak for all the cities, but I can tell you that Suburban Houston, specifically Katy and Klein/Spring, has experienced dramatic demographic change since the 90s/early 2000s. This is mostly due to foreign immigration and to earlier inhabitants moving further out to the exurbs (magnolia, etc).
