What do you think of this theory?

I'm not even sure if I would go so far as to call it a theory, maybe possibility is a better word. Everyone assumes the media is sticking to all the Russia collusion stuff out of pure hatred for Trump. I'm sure that is the reason for a large portion of the media. However an idea popped into my head the other day. Maybe Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer were made to be examples of what would happen to you if you were a member of the left wing media and suddenly had a moment of consciousness concerning professionalism and integrity enter your ecosystem? Remember Lauer got criticized by the left for asking tough questions to Hillary when he interviewed her during her campaign. Could they have been set up the same way the Democrats tried to set up Kavanaugh as a warning to the rest of the media (other than Fox which the DNC, Soros, and company are not going to have any pull over) to not stray from the official Democratic narrative no matter how badly it falls apart?
