Here's how the outgoing Gov. Parkinson saw the end of his term and the budget crisis.
Wow. A democrat who thinks taxes were too low. Amazing and penetrating analysis.

Over half the deficit is the result of the KS Supreme Court making up a constitutional level of educational spending.
Where are you getting those numbers? Your earlier quip about not enough money left to buy a Ford pickup was lifted from a misleading Brownback commercial.

Math. The Supreme Court of Kansas mandated hundreds of millions of education spending based on a tortuous "Consitutional" ruling. It accounts for half the current projected deficit.

Not every thread has to be a sarcastic trollfest. I posted the link to give some perspective on the Kansas budget situation at the time, since most people reading the thread aren't familiar with Kansas politics. Also the tax increase that Brownback made permanent has been a big issue in the race with Davis.

Brownback must be happy with that SC decision on some level since he uses those numbers in his ads to show that education funding has increased during his term.

The source of that link is too biased to be accepted over here, but it makes some strong points.
The next few years in Kansas will be interesting no matter who wins in November, as Davis can't just reinstate the taxes, and the state will burn through the surplus without some changes being made.
