What distinguishes a "moderate" Democrat in Congress?

The new narrative seems to be that if the democrats simply run "moderates" in House and Senate races that they may be able to take back Congress. What are these "moderates" positioning themselves as once they get elected, such that I will be able to see them as distinguishable from the more liberal Democrats?

Are any of them pushing for a different direction of the party once they get elected? If so, on what issues in particular?

We'll see with Conor Lamb.

He's a Marine that is against the assault weapons ban, supports the TRUMP tax cut, steel tariffs, and stronger penalties for heroin dealers.

If more rust belt Democrats actually were what Lamb says he is, Trump wouldn't have ever had a shot.

They are just being moderate to get in there.

If the Dems regain control before the swamp is drained, the pendulum is going to swing so far left in this country that it will not be recognizable. They will never let another Trump happen.

They are the ones who talk like they are willing to buck the party line, but then always vote the party line anyway.....you know...con men and con women. Thats why it's called CONgress.

I’m not quite sure. From all accounts Doug Jones was a “moderate”. He was a No on tax cuts and he’s pro-choice. Maybe he’s somewhat pro second amendment, with more restrictions on certain guns. He also supported Obamacare and would most likely vote for universal healthcare.

He doesn’t seem moderate in the least bit to me but apparently to Dems on this board he’s “moderate”.

Yeah, the lesson I see them taking isn't be more "moderate" but run people who can win in a district. He had the more traditional conservative views on guns, union appeal on the tax cuts and tariffs, and backs things like the ACA and your typical "SS and Medicare are the tits" Dems love.

Seems like a decent fit for his part of the world. Would get him primaried in Berkeley.

well that's a shift for the DEMs who, as of last year, were running pretty liberal guys in red areas (see: GA special election)

It's already been said by others. They lie about being centrist/moderate on certain issues, then vote lockstep far-left as soon as their sworn in. It's a good strategy for Dems, Im not sure why certain folks are stupid enough to fall for it. Tgis Lamb guy, like Doug Jones will vote how Schumer/Pelosi/special interests tell them to vote.

I wonder how it is that moderate dems don't exist, but that the Republican party seems rife with moderate, sell-out, cuck RINOs?

Hmmm

As crazy as it sounds, maybe the Dems actually paid attention to what the feedback loop was telling them.

This "run your district" talking point was all over CNN last night and I heard the crew on CBS This Morning saying the same thing. Which would mean they've learned the right lessons if they can follow through.

Which it's the Democrats, so it's just as likely they won't.

Imagine if all Repubs were all in on a conservative agenda like Dems are all in on a Marxist agenda. We might actually stand a chance.

Absolutely, get out of the ditch and back to the middle of the road.

Get away from or at least walk back identity politics. Common sense on guns, calls for an outright ban scares voters.

keep recruiting and running candidates that look right, no more blue haired lesbian transsexual vegan candidates. We are doing a good job of identifying good candidates that have military backgrounds and that is a winner with moderate voters.
