There are also limits to what they can tell me to do. Even if they’re a person who has the right to command me.

There are at least as many studies that show it does nothing and a few that show it actually could increase the chance of getting a virus (because we will touch our face more).
That said, I do tend to wear a mask if I go to a store.
Let me put it this way, vitamins have very little proof they actually do anything...yet I still take them.
And if I was in a closed space with a person that knew had Corona, I would want them to wear one.
Minimal downside, minimal upside, but why not.
That said, let's not pretend (like the media is doing) that this is settled science at all.

People who take vitamins have poorer outcomes, pick a study, but I assume the cohort that takes vitamins is sicker than than normal.

It seems you’re wrong with each of these points.
1) Wearing a PROPER mask for long spans (N95) can affect blood oxygen/CO2 levels, having adverse effects on many health conditions.
2) The type of masks and handling of said masks the general public employs can increase collection and exposure to pathogens.
You’re generalizing and unaware of some real effects of chronically wearing masks (that actually protect against the virus). Also, it seems the obvious measures of hand washing, avoiding others’ sneezes and coughs, and keeping reasonable distance is equally effective, thus the use of masks is excessive.
So, many people default to, well wearing one can’t hurt....wearing an effective one CAN hurt, and wearing an ineffective one is, well, ineffective thus pointless (or political)?

Doctors at Orlando Health said masks can be dangerous because people get a false sense of security. Also they wear them wrong and touch them leading to contamination

link? I did a google search and it was universally pro masks in reducing the spread of disease. Sorry, but it seems that your statement that there were an equal number of studies saying that masks spread viruses as prevent them doesn't seem to hold water.

I don't know about mask helping spread the virus. But unless you are a filthy slob you can not wear a mask, and still not spread the virus. If you are a filthy slob, wearing a mask isn't doing anyone any good anyways.

Giving a false sense of security vs being as dangerous or not the same thing. People need to cover their mouth and nose. with a good seal. There's still seems to be no good reason not to wear a mask except that people will be too dumb not to wear them properly.

Speaking from experience, the longer you wear one in stores, etc., the less it bothers you. Yes it still feels awkward, but it isn't a big deal. I live in Orleans, and the people not wearing masks in a grocery store at this point just look silly. And I'm an immovable Trump supporter.
