The board seems overwhelming conservative, so much so that its seems hard to even get any kind of satisfying discussion going.

Are there any boards out there that are decently well represented by people with different but informed and reasonable perspectives?

Im basically an independent and generally very socially liberal but fiscally conservative person and believe more in just worrying about my family, job, friends, life, instead of wasting much time going around in circles about things none of us can or will change. That said, it would be nice to find a place with reasonable, thoughtful, and well meaning people of all sides of issues trying to have an honest discussion about what is right and wrong and any remotely realistic possible steps towards actual progress.

You would have to be a complete idiot to have considered voting for Hillary.

Lol. Yeah, I bet it is. You’re looking for reddit, democrat underground, Daily Kos, or Huffington Post. You’ll find discussions there much more satisfying.

1-2%, but the Trump sycophants who comprise 80% are convinced that the remaining 18% fall into this category as well. The “thought process” is rather binary. See the preceding posts.

In other words, loosely libertarian? Probably 10% of us share your views to some extent. If you express those views, you will be branded “prog filth” by a group of people with IQs akin to room temperatures in Scandinavia.

The mods will let you express your views, but you will be subjected to endless personal attacks by low-grade morons. (You have seen several of them on this thread). You will need a thick skin.

Not that I have found. It takes a certain amount of both intelligence and objectivity to absorb and discuss ideas with which one is not in personal agreement. 90% of the populace lacks both.

Do any of those places have both sides? They sound pretty liberal leaning at face value - save possibly reddit but I dont hang out there very much at all. Sensing sarcasm here, but honest question, maybe the place just doesn't exist...

What more “left leaning” would you like posters to do in order to have “satisfying discussion?” Reparations, eradication of cow farts, abolishment of the 2nd A, free college for everyone, socialized medicine...? Since Clinton, the Republicans have done so much to acquiesce to the left that there’s really not much left to discuss. It’s either a constitutional republic or full blown socialism/Venezuela. Maybe that’s why you don’t see much “satisfying discussion” here.

It’s good you sensed the sarcasm, because it is simply not possible to be socially liberal, and fiscally conservative. Spending trillions on social programs kind of precludes someone from claiming the fiscal conservative banner. So all sarcasm aside, you probably would fit right in with the socialist democrats at the previously mentioned message boards. My opinion, of course.

No. If anything, they are worse.

The emotional, partisan reactions of the mob on those fora is about the same as here, but at least the mods here are capable of being reasonably fair .. which you will not find there.

Bless your heart. You think it’s possible to have an “ honest discussion about right and wrong” with Leftist ideologues . That’s sweet.

See, it is just impossible to hold liberal social views while feeling that the government should not be spending money on them. Binary.

Thanks AggieHank.

Just FYI when I say very socially liberal, I just mean let people do and think and pray or not pray to who they want as long as they aren't hurting others. Abortion is the place where I would part ways with most others that this crowd might consider "very socially liberal".

I do not hate anyone here, though there are a half dozen or so that I dislike rather strongly ... none for their political views, but rather for their willful ignorance.

There are also a dozen or two (representing the entire breadth political landscape) who are capable of intelligent discourse. I enjoy conversing with them.

You will have noticed that I did not include you in the latter category.

“Hmmm.... I’m going to post a message to this board that I think and will tell them is overly conservative and then ask these overly conservative board members where I can go for better discussion since they do not provide to my satisfaction. Yeah that’ll work!”
(Brilliant!) smh, lol.
