What % of people would choose comfort over freedom?

Just wondering. What is the reason Communism gets a bad wrap with most people? I think alot of people associate it with famines and people starving in Russia, China, and Venezuala. And that's why they don't like it. Where someone like me, doesn't like it because it strips away liberty and ability for people to have their own agency and blaze their own path.
What has changed, and China really has been a leading model on this, is Communist style governments can now provide enough basic needs and creature comforts to satisfy the general population (at least in 1st or maybe 2nd world countries)
In America, it seems we are still a far way from being to the point where people can't eat, or have some place to live, and have access to the things like internet and Netflix. (Maybe I'm wrong on this) People aren't going to revolt if they are being provided these basics.
And by all indications, the regime will still make sure people have enough comforts to keep the people placated, at least for long enough where when they don't have the comforts they want, it will be too late to do anything about it.

The thought of living a life where I was "comfortable" but that "comfort" was the pinnacle of what I could achieve sounds pretty miserable.

We’re not as far as you think if things keep going the way they are. We’ll know more after the mids

47%. It’s the only thing Romney ever said that was true.

Depends on the comfort, depends on the freedom.

Comfort leads to complacency and ultimately hopelessness.
In life people need purpose.
In life people need purpose.

This. Achieving "comfort" is often followed with complacency. The prize is not worth it, without the struggle.

Look at how many people became masked covidians. Look at how many still watch sports even though many athletes despise them and all they believe in in. 70 percent of Americans would fall to their knees and do whatever they are told.

I don't know the % is, but you can count me out of the group that chooses the illusion of temporary comfort over freedom. Hayulll naw!

Supposedly 81 million.

Right around 50% , maybe higher. I am astonished at how many “educated” Americans don’t grasp the concepts of our Constitution

Final paragraph is the kicker. Once the communist are in firm control, they decide what the level of comfort is for the commoners which is frequently sacrificed for the ruling party’s comfort. The freedoms are lost forever

The character traits that enable a person to be free (economic relatively affluent) are manifest in relative degrees in individuals. The idea (Ideology) that is now in the morality debate is whether and to what degree individuals are allowed to retain the economic fruits of their God-given talents and industry or that all people’s Natural and random luck of the genetic draw ( Lib’s “life’s lottery “ narrative) should be put in the Collective kitty and allocated on the basis of “need”. “From each according to their ability, to each according to their need”. Though the latter sound Just, such a criteria punishes an ion and productivity from the the exceptionally gifted and rewards sloth and irresponsibility in the weak and talentless. Of course, this is ‘Worldly’ affluence; spirituality is another argument. Many supposedly altruistic Marxist ‘Leaders’ will seek and enjoy worldly affluence while the unproductive economy of the which they impose makes even the weakest more poor, desperate and criminal. Bottom line is that “the Spirit Warren against the Flesh”. Few will be able to handle worldly power without being spiritually corrupt. “the eye of a needle “. Don’t mean they lose the moral right to give it a shot. Even God gives Satan its due. IMO.

That's the percentage that immediately came to my mind. The fake pandemic was quite telling, still is. How far have we fallen...

Freedom
If you have Freedom you have the ability to live in comfort if you are not a lazy unambitious pos. Take China I've seen stories where the government locked people's bank accounts, took their money and had tanks in front of banks, how true or not I don't know. But if If I work and have money in the bank the government isn't stealing then I can provide my own comfort

The issue is those like Biden, and others with wealth, will always be far better off because they will be the only ones that will be there.
Under Communism, there are no roads to achieve wealth anymore. You will be held at one socio-economic level and never allowed to advance past that.
The folks who think that system is just nifty, are those fat lazy young people who still live with Mom and Dad or might live alone and itch because their Starbucks job is not offering them the opportunity to have a house, two cars, and a family and never understand why.
