Their definition of “rich” is the concerning part.

Not new on that definition.

My late grandfather (mom’s side) was a hardcore Dem because he was a union lifer and my dad used to give him a ton of shite over 30 years ago about how “the rich” was him… a blue collar union guy who managed to retire with a comfortable amount of money.

From what I’ve been told, the only Republican he ever voted for was Reagan in 1984 and that was because he couldn’t stand Ferraro.

That’s the old Democrat base which has been left behind with a lot of the bull shite of the past 20+ years.

So these 87,000 new IRS agents will be armed with millions of dollars worth of guns & ammo to....audit the rich? Their being armed is a big part of the millions of dollars in the bill.

"fair share" AAHHHHHHHGGGGHHH! They keep saying that. Is as cliche as horror films flinging the term "gives me the creeps".

Anyone making over 75K will be right at a 30% tax bracket.

That map is a direct correlation to government assistance.

Entitlement programs creates poverty.

If only individuals/couples reporting over $400,000 in income will be the target of these 87,000 agents, based on IRS statistics and assuming an agent can manage 30 audits per year, every filer reporting $400K and above will be audited every single year.

What are the chances . . .

It’s pretty easy to see that the counties around DC are doing really well. If you look closely at the poverty map, it seems the counties around state Capitols do well too. The moral is, government jobs are the way out of poverty for so many. The IRS will take ~87,000 people out of poverty soon.

The rich own the government. No way 87,000 new agents and billions of tax payer dollars are only going after the rich.

Anyone who believes this is a legit moron.

"Rich" has always been a relative term... To the man with less than you, you are the "rich man"... and the man with more than you is the "rich man"...

I always like the premise that you could be just about anything you wanted to be in this country, if you were willing to put in the work for it... Now, too many in this country want everything without putting in the work necessary to acquire it...

They audit the rich, in poor areas.

Those also happen to be more conservative people

There should be some sort of Website which doxxes the names of these people. Their community needs to know. Stigmatizing people who engage in societally destructive behavior is a good way to discourage said behavior.

IMO, given a flailing economy and inflation, pressure on the WORKING folk will not go well. There will be violence, and when/if the Agents use their guns hell will break loose.

I would not take that job if it paid six figures. Of course, those who will take it don't have a clue as to what they are getting themselves into. Marxist revolution always gets ugly sooner or later.

The people who believe the “we’re going after the rich and corporations” bull shite need to wake up.

The IRS doesn’t need 87k more agents to advance that objective, and the IRS won’t go after those groups because those groups can afford to mount very sound audit defenses.

Noooo, they’re going after middle and low income earners because that’s the easy, low-hanging fruit. It’ll be like shooting fish in a barrel for the IRS.
