Wait.. I can get a conceal carry permit here in California but you can't in Louisiana.

No, they were going to basically remove the training and the 500$ fee for a concealment carry license. Looks like we’ll just be remaining the same as we have been in Louisiana.

The problem is, the places you need to carry in Louisiana, if you’d have to shoot someone, you’d be deemed a racist and go to prison forever. I personally just don’t carry in these places and avoid them like the plague.

Why would they vote against that?

$500? Good God! It was $50 in SC before they made it free.

No need to be crass. That's how I read it.

quote:

Republican state Rep. Danny McCormick voluntarily deferred his bill Tuesday in the final days of Louisiana's legislative session. The bill, which has routinely been offered to the GOP-dominated Legislature, would have eliminated all training and background check requirements to carry a concealed weapon in Louisiana.

The above is from US News & World Report. Is that accurate?

It's just a shame that nearly half the states now allow a concealed carry allowance with no license and yet we're 0-2 on trying to get it done here. Powers that be here just love getting all those fees for carry permits.

Wow. In Alabama, you just gave them $7 and they printed it on the spot.

Now, of course, there's constitutional carry.

500 is a GD rip off pure in simple. Come over to Florida. 100 bucks.

The state makes a few million dollars a year from permits. This is all a money issue and not even that much money.

Sheriffs do not want to lose this revenue. Same thing has been happening in FL.

Sheriff's here in Louisiana don't get the revenue. It all goes to the Louisiana State Police. They run the Concealed Handgun Permit program.

$500 is for a lifetime permit for ages 21-64. It's $125 for a 5-year permit

Louisiana

That dump has the worst of both worlds: none of the freedoms expected from a true bastion of conservatism and none from a liberal enclave.
