When you decide who won or lost a negotiation you measure how much each party would have gotten previously and otherwise.

This shut down forced McConnell to very publicly promise a vote on DACA when he had previously stonewalled the effort. If this turns out to be a bad deal for Schumer it's only because McConnell is not a man of his word.

Schumer definitely won.

Schumer won: he got a commitment from McConnell to bring DACA to a vote.
That wasn't what the Dems wanted from holding the CR hostage, Rex.
quote:

As the third day of the shutdown dawned, liberal advocates and immigration groups fired off a joint statement blasting as “unacceptable” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s offer merely to hold a vote on immigrationwith no promises for action from the House or White House — in exchange for Democratic votes to reopen the government. But three hours later, Democratic senators agreed to just those terms — sparking anger on the left.
You're wrong again, Rexie Poo....

Schumer and his unindicted co-conspirators closed down the government because they wanted a commitment to amend the DACA law to give amnesty to the DACA illegal aliens. A vote was always on the horizon. A vote the Dems know they will lose. The Dems got nothing from agreeing to reopen the Federal government that wasn't already going to happen anyway.

You're really desperate.
