Welfare isn't designed to help you. It's designed to keep you poor & dependent on Big Bro

Just in case you had any doubt, the below gives an insightful look how benefits drop off faster than they can logically be replaced with hard wages, thus making you poorer when you get a small leg up. From the peak of $12 / hour + welfare (full everything), you would have to make $38 / Hour to get to the same economic point you were before.

This, probably more than any other factor besides complacency, is what keeps perpetual poverty.

Yep. It's almost like it's designed to keep people poor and dependent upon the government while also punishing them for saving money in banks, incentivizing them to have children out of wedlock, and punishing them for getting married. It's almost as if the government is making it a priority to push people into the very situations that make wealth attainment and accumulation as difficult as possible.

The disincentives in that report are mind-boggling. But the recommendations by the authors of the study are pretty generic. It seems like it is difficult to integrate all the programs from the different levels of government, which lack of integration contributes to the level of disincentives.

It is a much more difficult problem to solve than it might seem because of the multi-level aspect. But obviously, there is big money to be saved by reducing the disincentives.

It’s not almost designed to keep you in the system, it is deliberately designed that way. I worked in the food stamp program many years ago. I knew after two weeks that we weren’t helping people, we were enslaving them. I got out after a few months. The welfare system is pure evil.

Ya man. This is never going to get fixed because it would be too cold in the eyes of most pussy Americans. Fixing the problem would be tough and difficult. People have to suffer to change human behavior. It’s like the student debt problem. Those kids will have to suffer before anybody learns not to lever up like that.

Welfare is protection money paid to the savage mob just to keep them quite and not revolting.

Been saying this for years.

Why bust your ads with a real job when you can get a free check and hustle on the side?

Wow, while I haven't done the math this is what I've been saying all along.

If welfare was meant to get you out of poverty you'd see a good transition that never punishes you for making more. That's not what you see here, that's a wall keeping you below a certain mark and keeping you voting Dem.

Bookmarked.

You do realize most welfare goes to the blue part of republican states, right?

Not saying it’s a universal truth, but it sure is in the south.

ETA: I don’t meant this in a gloatful way. We should all want poverty extinguished for people of all races and political persuasion.

The problem is that the system trains you to be dependent on it. As you try to get off, you get less and it makes it harder. If you don’t think this wasn’t the framer’s intent, you weren’t paying attention.
