I know people who like that area over Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills due to the vibe over there.

Depends on what you want. Homewood much more active, walkable shopping etc, but I wouldn’t trade my quiet Mt Brook street for anything.

Democrats will riot violently in the streets for justice… wait— that makes no sense?

Is this tempest in a teapot over?

Dropping the daughter off in Homewood in a couple weeks.

Agree completely.

I’d absolutely go Mountain Brook as well but the sorority girls who took theater classes seem to love the Homewood atmosphere.

Bottom line anyone suggesting Homewood is a bad area has no idea what they’re talking about or hasn’t been to Birmingham in 20 years.

It’s time for these cities to start suing these race hustling attorneys, and community agitators.

When I bought my house, my wife wanted to live in Homewood. We got more per sf in MountainBrook.

There are some areas on the outer edges of Homewood that are sketchy imo (valley now vs 30 years ago), but the vast majority is very nice. Location in terms of access is unbeatable in Bham area. Like others have said, seems common to see people buy houses just to do a complete tear down and build new on the lot. I live in mountain brook but love some Homewood restaurants. Demetris for brunch/breakfast, Johnnys, gianmarcos, etc. even some of the stuff in soho.

The police officer is also black. So not sure why the race card is played always in these situations

Sure. You did see that the family of the person shot by the police has seen video, right?

Seems to me that alot of these racist white people have actually been black according to the news.

I suspect the reason you see more of that in Homewood is that it used to be you could buy a significantly cheaper home to bulldoze in Homewood than what you’d be looking at in Mountain Brook.

There’s a bigger market of people who can bulldoze a $500k home in Homewood than could do the same with a $1M house in Mountain Brook only to turn around and spend another $850-$1M on building a replacement.

Either way, two great places to live and raise a family. I’d put the prime Birmingham suburbs up with anywhere in the south to raise a family, the only thing holding it back being the job market which isn’t quite on par with Huntsville/Atlanta/Nashville.

People want to talk about crime but it’s just not an issue unless you go down the mountain or somewhere you clearly shouldn’t be.

Because it's all the left has and it always works to get black people all up in arms.
