quote:

“South Africans continuing to be poor when we can print more money to ensure that everybody has it. Our people are poor because there is a shortage of money in the country. It’s not the shortage of jobs that makes people poor, it is the shortage of money. We have paper and ink, so we will print more money and give it to the poor, and make all of them billionaires if that is possible.” Nene said.

The minister did not say how much more money will need to be printed. But he did reveal that this plan will be executed in in the next two months or so, and that every South African will be rich.

One of the dumbest ideas I've heard. A basic course in macro is needed. Better yet, a recent course in the history of Zimbabwe may help this guy.

I can see the train wreck coming like it's in slow motion. If not for the human suffering to follow, this would be awesome.

It was actually a quote from Maxine Waters, though your confusion is understandable.

while the people of Zimbabwe are suffering, I bet the Zimbabwe finance minister lives quite nicely. Maybe that's what the South African finance minister is looking at.

Our Federal Reserve has been doing this since 1913.

They think what happened to Zimbabwe was just “bad luck”, don’t they?

China is going to swoop in and buy up three-quarters of the country when they hit bottom. They have been very active in West Africa, and moving in to an area with relatively advanced infrastructure (for the area) and people who remember a functional economy must seem like a wet dream for Xi and Co.
