We import a fairly large amount of O&G chemicals from China, and we discussed the problems related to corona. The thesis of the meeting was China stockpiles are at best three months of products and the supply chain on the manufacturing side is broken. They have entire regions of people on lockdown and not reporting for work.

The reason I bring this to the board is a lot of factories we buy from are in regions that also produce a lot of the materials needed for medicines for the world. A LOT of medicines. Like antibiotics. What they are producing is being consumed for their population. Force majeure is in place already and they are breaking contracts left and right. There was a story relayed from an LNG client that one of their ships is stuck in port because there are no dock workers to unload it.

shite is about to get real for the rest of the world

Now my Indian farmhand said
“My wife not true to me
Me want oranges, me plant orange tree
Me plant corn, up come corn
Plant bran, up come bran
Last year me plant Indian and up come China man”

Moving so much of our manufacturing to China is going to bite us in the arse.Fox news had a story about surgical masks ,gowns and latex gloves being predominately made in China, likely to be shortage in U.S.
Just finished book-Bottle of Lies,90% of our generic medicines or ingredients for medicines are made in China and India, which is not much better.FDA does a poor job of monitoring manufacturing of these meds, for several reasons. One big reason is their drug manufacturing facilities require FDA give as much as 1 week notice before inspections. In the U.S.!the FDA makes random inspections without prior notice.
Recently there was in issue with valsartan,a generic BP medicine made in China that was found to be contaminated and taken off the market. Some years ago contaminated heparin killed something like 89 patients and sickened hundreds more.Scary shite!!!

Yes, we are already being limited on how many gloves and masks we can order. Almost all are made in China. Time to bring our drug and medical supply companies home to the good ol USA!

I’m curious to see how long this virus lasts. Some experts are claiming that it is similar to the flu as in when the season changes and weather gets warmer the virus will eventually pretty much die off.

Yeah, time to start manufacturing in the USA! Meds from China is a disaster waiting to happen. They could easily be infecting meds with prions and no one would know until years later when everyone started getting brain diseases.

I honestly believe if people saw the direct impact of making things like medicine would have on our safety and economy, people wouldn't mind paying more. Am I correct?

Is anyone else wondering why we're buying medicines/antibiotics from an ideological enemy?

I mean, what could go wrong?

Short term dip...long term bump. And I know nothing about macro-economics. But what I do know is that the US will have to disconnect from Chinese production of critical goods. No doubt there is short term advantage in Global manufacturing which takes advantage of cheap labor, but the obvious and potentially devastating effects of unconsidered consequences can be calamitous.

They say this Virus will go away in April- when atmospheric conditions are no longer optimal - but we had better take this lesson seriously, and act accordingly. Like Trump says..."infrastructure, built with AMERICAN steel". A

The 5G thing will be worse than the Virus.

This underscores my main point during the tariff wars: a country that doesn't make enough of its own shite eventually becomes the bitch of the country that does.

Somehow the dow dropped 600 points that one day (with the other indices that are relevant to my portfolio doing the same%) and it bounced back but I seem to have $5000 more dollars.

I say let's do that once a week but it probably won't work that way each time.

Apparently they could be with automation... some of the latex manufacturing was already in the process of moving back into the U.S.

Not even a short term dip. "Bad" news is great news and market still goes up 1/2 to a point. Great news soars stock 4 to 10%. QE pumping from 35 to 100 Billion +/Day will continue until end of 2024 Trump. Mnuchin has it all rigged to do nothing but go higher with DOW to 100,000 for #46 when Jr or Ivanka get elected.

Sounds to me like we need to get some manufacturing ramped up in the US and quick.
