Worth the watch - rips apart medical studies as biased pieces of crap

And on top of that -I personally stopped taking statins due to the muscular pain it caused me, know another person who did the same. Pain went away, I felt like a younger man once the effects wore off.

I've repeatedly told my primary doctor I will not take statin drugs, that I am at low risk for a cardiac event in spite of my high LDL. There is a algorithm that calculates risk, and my other metrics offset the cholesterol numbers. She tried to push it on me, on the last visit, and I made her do the calculations. She finally backed down, after putting in the other numbers.

People need to know the big picture with these drugs and directives, and make their doctors know that we, as patients, have a say in our health care plan.

Statins are a good treatment for COVID as the virus needs cholesterol to enter lung cells.

Less cholesterol, less viral efficiency.

Folks on statins were 50% less likely to be admitted to the hospital for severe COVID.

So there’s that.

Red yeast rice, limit your red meat intake to twice a week, one iron pill a day, and cardio 3-4 times a week.

Did it for me - went from 150 back below 100.

Big deal, that's a known side effect and many are discontinued because of that. Otherwise, they work very well.

Uh that is the most common side effect

Often they can try another statin and you wont have the muscle issues

I won't stop taking statins simply because the fact that it allows the veins to expand better preventing a cardiac event. Who cares about muscle pain if your dead.

I go to a lipidology specialist.

The pain, he says, is due to vitamin D deficiency.

I can attest to having gone through the pain - but then after raising my Vitamin D blood level - no more intolerance ofthe statins.

My cholesterol numbers were all high - and they are ALL in good range now except for my GOOD cholesterol is still climbing but not yet there.

The controversial question is - Do cholesterol levels mean what research says they do?

Mine is well controlled - my specialist says I can live to 90s now... REALLY?

I guess until I see those answers I will be satisfied..

I have lived a lifestyle, diet, and supplement that is targeted more for developing cellular telomere length, a known longevity outcome contributor.

The active ingredient in red rice yeast is identical to lovastatin- Monacolin K.Problem with OTC red rice yeast is the dosage can vary from batch to batch. One batch can have very low doses, next batch may have very high doses.Like playing Russian Roulette with one’s liver.

Red yeast rice

Keep an eye on those lipids baw. All that cholesterol has to go somewhere and usually just ends up in the liver. Red yeast rice knocked out my cholesterol but liver enzymes jumped to like 700 if I remember correctly. It works, just keep any eye on it. Just my 2 cents

I refused to take statins until my heart attack. I'm still not convinced the issue of atherosclerosis is solely from bad cholesterol levels. I've listened to several cardiologists on YouTube, some being more on the research side of heart disease say inflammation in the arteries and the subsequent damage from whatever was causing the inflammatory response is the culprit....the call for cholesterol by the body to patch the affected area of inflammation over time becomes the blockage. I've heard different doctors give several explanations for why the vessels around the heart are vulnerable for this irritation/inflammation that overtime results in a blockage, the most common agreement amongst these Drs was gut health. Poor gut health can result in "leaky gut" syndrome which allows extremely small particles of gut contents into the bloodstream. A couple of the cardiologists recommended healing the gut through fasting and a diet they have developed for optimal gut health.

With all that said, I take a probiotic, COQ10, magnesium, D3, tumeric/curcumin, E, zinc, B12, baby aspirin, metoprolol, and a statin. I can't say if any of my occasional aches and pains are from my statin....I'm 63 so I expect a few occasional aches and pains at this age.

Doctors must loathe the fact that regular people can get this information and do their own research. It’s clearly way more research than she would have done. Their status as doctors has taken a huge hit

Normal post from a simple minded leftist that lacks the intellectual ability to look at each circumstance individually.

yep, and again, I believe that is caused by a Vitamin d deficiency.. After my D level was raised I no longer had the side effect..

The australian doctor video just down theboard makes two points..

1.cholesterol levels are inversely correlated with deaths

and
2. Saturated fats work the same way

and interestingly BOTH of those optimize against deaths at about the positive 2/3 to 3/4 range of the possible concentrations of each - CHOLESTEROL and SATURATED FATS

which is great because I love cheeses and a hamburger

Daily 100mg of Coq10 will eliminate statin caused muscle pain. Statin drugs reduce the natural Coq10 in the body.
