Was this a ploy by McConnell and Ryan to intentionally lose the midterms?

It's obvious McConnell and Ryan hate being in leadership. It exposes them as total hypocrites at best and total liars at worst.

It seems Ryan and McConnell are much more comfortable with a seat at the table in their minority positions as long as they have some appropriations to dole out to the swamp and pretend to be conservatives.

I think trump’s reelection chances are higher with a dem house.

I don’t know but they definitely tried their hardest to lose in 2016. Being in the minority is the easiest job ever

You may be right.

In life and politics juxtaposition and contrast are very important.

The lunacy that will come out of a Dem controlled House will make Trump look like...

If it wasn't, it should have been, because it was a good one.

Agreed - it’s his best hope. They will overreach like MFers and re-energize our dormant base.

I kind of want credit for that line of thinking on TD but know I won’t get it

It’s true. The pendulum needs to swing back hard for Trump to get a fresh start in 2 years.

I don't necessarily disagree, its just the emotional swings of this place.

The idea of the dems winning at least the house and maybe the senate was laughable (according to the poliboard). Now it's a strategic advantage that should be applauded if it happens???

Come on, its funny!

The Dems will likely win the house unless something major happens re: terrorism, massive BLM rallies, or the stock market explodes over the next 8 months

Don’t see how the GOP fails to gain at least 1 Senate seat with this map though.

I agree, and I'd give them about a 35% chance of winning the senate, maybe a little less. I don't think it'll happen but I wouldn't be shocked if it did.

If it does, holy shite man, 2020 will be nuts.

minority positions

They are part of the Dems so they are fighting for THEIR party. Just because they have an R by their name doesn't prove they aren't plants. Look at their actions and then tell me what party they work for.

There are hundreds of people posting so there will be dozens of opinions with varying ranges of plausibility. There is no "board opinion."

Disagree.

Sure there are lots of differing views but on most issues that's not until you get into the weeds. Identifying a consensus on this board on most things isn't that hard, and that includes their optimism about the 2018 midterms.
