The one that would be opened up by this tactic against Moore?

Seriously, how can people in this day and age continue to believe this stuff can just happen in a vacuum with no obvious blowback?

I know.. We hold these people up like they are masters of some inside game but in reality, they put their pants on one leg at a time, just like everyone else.

The scorpion and the frog. It's in their nature to self-destruct because it's the natural result of their politics of destruction.

People repeat bad behavior when they are confident that the can will remained closed.

It started before Moore...this storm was coming for a while now...I think it started with pizza.

i can't see how anyone would be that short-sighted, but partisan politics makes people think in a bubble

Maybe. That shite didn't seem to have a lot of legs outside a few dark reaches, though.

it "started" with Duke, but really ramped up with the UVA case and the election last year with HRC as teh feminist icon and Trump as the predator

I mean, when you start definitively declaring things like "allegations" are all you need to make someone "unfit", it was clear how there was no way that wasn't going to snowball completely out of control for a whole lot of folks.

I think you mean "they take their pants off one leg at a time." Unless you are Harvey Weinstein and then you just unzip and take it out.

oh 100%

i mean from a more meta level, the "regret rape" and Title 9 cases were the warning shot for all of this, from the past few years

Duke and UVA were pure fabrications that were latched onto initially by the major media to create a frenzy. while they kind of "started" the whole moral panic, they're not really comparable to these scenarios.

the countless "regret rape" examples are the real scary ones. we had 3-4 years of people pushing these stories as a larger narrative and intentionally using a vehicle that provided less due process than criminal prosecutions

Know your IX

quote:

For many survivors, campus reporting is their only option. Many victims of sexual violence don’t want to turn to the criminal justice system: they may fear skepticism and abuse from police, prosecutors, or juries; they may not want to go through the ordeal of a long trial; they may fear retaliation from their assailant, who will most likely not end up prosecuted, let alone convicted; and they may be hesitant to send their assailants to prison. But even survivors who do report to the police are often abandoned by the system.

quote:

Q: Isn’t sexual violence too serious for schools to handle?

A: Sexual violence is very, very serious – which is why survivors need multiple real options. Indeed, it is too serious to leave to a faulty criminal justice system, no matter how comforting our misplaced faith in that system may be.

quote:

Q: But aren’t colleges handling these reports terribly?

A: Yup, they absolutely are. But let’s be honest: so are the police

It started there and along with the Trump allegations as SFP pointed out. People, especially men, need to drop the partisanship and understand this is all leading to a very, very bad place for men.

Those fools greatly underestimated the resolve of the people of the state of Alabama. We were not going to be told who to vote for.

They should have left it with the one accusation and that could have cast enough doubt in some minds to possibly stop Moore. But no, now the whole town of Gadsden knew about it and never said a word and he was banned from the mall and then the forged yearbook. Sorry, you don't come down here and pull all of that shite. You just ran into a fricking buzz saw and have now made Moore a stronger candidate.

Way to go WaPo

Some of the shite being used to destroy people isn't even illegal behavior or actual "sexual harassment" that carries a civil penalty. Even the shite involving older men with teens back in the 50s, 60s or 70s and a little into the 80s...people are applying modern, current morality to eras that didn't really frown on that behavior...there was no date rape until the mid-80s (maybe).

In the case of Al, it probably wouldn't make it to court...he's screwing around on that line...

It's the standard that the Senate just applied to moore, all the while having a safety fund paid by taxpayers...they cannot, the media cannot and many men have difficulty meeting a standard of "never talk to women or they may cry SA"...

We just cant...lets go back to kneeing people in the dick as the "no" signal, and if men act after that...throw them in the clink...

It reminds me of college football fans who pile on their rivals when there is an arrest or recruiting violation...and then next week it happens to their team.

Peter Gabriel said it best.

You can blow out a candle but you can't blow out a fire.
Once the flame begins to catch the wind will blow it higher.

That's the problem with fanning the flames like this for political purposes. You don't know what way the wind is going to blow them.
