Happy hour got me a little sauced so I hope this makes sense.

I cannot stand her, but she mentioned something that's actually right. She said that we should use our trade deals to get other countries to live up to our environmental standards.

Third world countries make products much cheaper than we can because they can pay pennies and pollute as much as they want. If it only affected them that's fine, but their shite gets in our oceans and floats to us. I spend a ton of time outdoors and hate seeing stuff get ruined by garbage and other shite like this.

We're all used to whacko environmental policies with global warming and other shite, but we cannot let dems have a monopoly on ones like this.

And what happens when they tell us to kick rocks?

Institute tariffs!?!!?1!

She's too much of a pussy for that and every other country knows it. So how is she going to get them to?

Yeah she'd easily cave, but the proposition is a good one. Trump adding these kind of environmental deals with the trade deals would go a long way.

You're right. It would be reasonable for us to do that. Far more reasonable than any other climate policy Dems have ever put forward.

Won't happen.

Sounds reasonable, but she'd never actually do it.

I tip right, and I agree with the concept. We'll enter trade deals with nations who follow environmental standards similar to ours.

So you're into controlling the policies of other countries via some means of "force".
Why?

Absolutely. I'm a fan of using different kinds of force or pressure to get other countries to act in our own best interests.

The "force" in this case is by refusing or limiting trade with them.

The TPP addressed environment. That portion of the agreement has been criticized, but that wasn't the main focus of the agreement.

How about we get fair trade deals first. Then we will worry about fair trade deals with environmental standards

Part of fair trade is parity in labor and environmental standards.
