It won’t be Biden. Calling it now, he’ll be out of the picture a quarter of the way through the primaries.
And Harris is well served in this crowded field where there is 0 chance to dig into policies. She has her stump speeches down and can tug at the heart strings of guilt-ridden middle of the road voters. She was the clear winner tonight and will probably come out of this with a bump.
But she’s really going to struggle when the field gets down to 2-4 candidates. Her town hall revealed that her biggest weakness is moving beyond platitudes, and she’ll putter out once we get to the point in the primary where that has to be done.
