It takes a liberal to run a story that can be summarized as follows

Those evil Republicans did something in 2011 that we predicted was the end of the world as we know it. Now they've stopped doing it and it's going to be the end of the world as we know it

The Republicans are hypocrites about the deficit and their supporters only care about deficits when Democrats are in power.

I agree that they are all hypocrites, but every budget is not equal.

You can't say that generic republican was against a budget for xx amount of dollars, and now he is for a budget for xxxx amount of dollars.

The devil is in the details. Spending on infrastructure is not the same as entitlement spending, etc.

Here is the major difference. It is absolutely true that as a party republicans suck about being hard on the deficit when they are in charge

But it is also absolutely true that you will be able to find lots of conservative writers and conservatives in government who will complain and talk about the deficit problem while Republicans are in charge. They may get out voted but they are there

Well they don't really care about it when Republicans are in charge either, other than to point out the hypocrisy of Republicans that scream about it when Dems are in charge only to largely ignore when Reps are in charge.

I do think there are several Republicans that walk the walk to back their talk on the deficit. There just aren't enough of them, especially with the biggest fake in DC, Paul Ryan, as Speaker of the House.

Republicans flipped? Huh? What? The democrats that cheered on Obama as he doubled our federal debt obligations... are suddenly concerned about deficits.... that is a flip.

We’ve long known that establishment GOP don’t give a crap about deficits. Hell, it’s a big part of why the Tea Party got started.

I also remember that Boehner was roundly criticized by.... Democrats... for not standing up to the more conservative reps in the House when Obama wanted to raise deficits even higher than than his already record setting pace.
