Are you saying that it was Trump's fault that the repeal of Obamacare Failed?
Yes. He created enemies during the campaign and failed at mending the bridge prior to having the repeal bill on the floor. He should have negotiated better behind closed doors to secure the vote before it went to the floor.

sloflo "it is a failure if you don't get done what you say you're going to do."
Matt Gaetz files to vacate the speakership when McCarthy doesn't adhere to the bargain he made
also sloflo "LOL you thought Gaetz had power. Who would do anything different than McCarthy? This is a stupid play and McCarthy told him to nut up or shut up.

Can he do it independent of Congress?
No, but that's not the discussion.
Nobody is saying Congress doesn't press yay/nay, ultimately. It's making the sausage beforehand that's being discussed, from writing the bills to editing them, to negotiating for support. The Executive is involved the whole way.
The vote you're referencing is largely symbolic.

So if he is voted out, when does the election of a new speaker begin?
Assuming Kevin can be nominated?

Oh I might have been wrong. Let's see if Gaetz can get a SOH who will promote his policy to display that power.

I’ve never liked Gaetz.
We may be at odds with the Dems, but at some point you compromise and work together.
No one gets everything they want.

When pelosi abstains because she can’t bring herself to vote against her buddy you know you’re on the right track.

Here is an example
quote:
Talks between the administration and Democratic leadership on a path forward for a COVID-19 relief bill collapsed Friday, with both parties leaving negotiations citing no measured progress toward an agreement and no plans for a future meeting.
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows have been in daily discussion with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer over a possible relief package, but with no agreement in sight, the parties appear to have now gone their separate ways.

Isn't amazing that people are that thin skinned that they would put their hurt feelings over the "will of the people". Just goes to show you how "broke and corrupt" our government really is.

Seven Republicans have now voted to remove Kevin McCarthy as speaker.
Assuming all Democrats vote for his ouster, McCarthy is on track to become the first House speaker in American history ejected from the job.
