VA Rep wouldn’t have co-sponsored controversial abortion bill if she’d read it closely

A Virginia lawmaker sent an email to her constituents Wednesday night apologizing for attaching her name to a controversial abortion bill without reading it closely enough.

In a newsletter, Del. Dawn Adams, D-Richmond, said she “did not exercise due diligence” before co-sponsoring the abortion legislation with Del. Kathy Tran, D-Fairfax. Tran became the focus of a social media firestorm this week after Republicans circulated video of her saying the bill would allow abortions up until the moment of birth if one doctor certified that the mother’s physical or mental health was at risk.

“I made a mistake, and all I know to do is to admit it, tell the truth, and let the chips fall where they may,” said Adams, a first-term delegate who won a close upset victory in 2017 in her suburban district and could face a competitive re-election campaign this year.

Though other Democrats are standing by Tran, the response from Adams is the strongest public showing of regret from a lawmaker associated with the abortion bill, which has already been defeated.

Adams, a nurse practitioner, said she believes women have “full authority to decide what is best for themselves and their bodies.” But she said she mistakenly believed Tran’s bill would only repeal “onerous” abortion restrictions Republicans imposed in 2012.

“While it did, it sought to do much more,” Adams said. “Had I researched each line of removed language, I would have seen that, and known that there was more research to be done. None of this changes that I believe women must have safe legal options for abortion; but I also would have seen the utility of language that provides guidelines for how to ensure this.”

The Virginia Dems must be getting slammed by their constituents. The back tracking is almost laughable. As horrible as these bills are, it seems to have awakened people to how evil the pro-abortion crowd is.

If she read it closely, that's the problem with bills there is too much stuff in there for most people to read and to understand every little thing. How many pages was Ocare? There is no telling what all gets passed because people dont know half the stuff in them.

She has staff and is a freaking Co Sponsor so that don’t fly. This bill probably wasn’t over 50 pages.

Glad people are finally waking up. why has it taken so long? Abortion is a gravely evil act. Most women who have an abortion suffer greatly because they know they killed their child. Some have great difficulty living with the decision.
Pro-death groups never let anyone talk about this.

Wow so they admit to sponsoring and voting for bills they don't read? Shocking.

As I said, there is a line that rational people for and against abortion don’t wanna cross. These idiots crossed the line into advocating and supporting murder of fully developed and new born children.

Call this is what it is.

Word salad that tries so hard to crawfish her way out of the fire but still looks so pathetic doing it.

Tran doesn't even know what's in the bill.

quote:

Gilbert: So how late in the third trimester could a physician perform an abortion if he indicated it would impair the mental health of the woman?

Tran: Or physical health.

Gilbert: Okay. I’m talking about mental health.

Tran: I mean, through the third trimester. The third trimester goes all the way up to 40 weeks.

Gilbert: So to the end of the third trimester?

Tran: Yes. I don’t think we have a limit in the bill
.

You don't think?

So who'll cry louder: her or those unrepresented 3rd term little one's?

hint: (The little ones - cause without a vote too many politicians listen, hold and kiss - but still never hear.)

Either she is an imbecile, or she's lying. In 2012, for late-term procedures, the GOP imposed a requisite ultrasound, informed consent counseling, and a subsequent 1 day timeout period.

Adams could VERY EASILY have determined the new bill went far beyond simply reversing those 2012 requirements.

fricking clown show

Remember the leftists here gloating about the seats these monsters picked up in the va house? I do.

They have always been this way, they are just feeling confident about showing themselves now.

They ALWAYS overplay their hand because they are vile on a molecular level.

Too late to walk it back now. She just admitted the possibility of 2 things in this statement. That she really does support this bill, but it is hurting her politically so she is walking it back. Or she is too incompetent to read and understand what she is voting for. Either way weather it is one or the other or both it looks terrible on her part.

Under the bill’s actual text, virtually any claim of impairment would suffice to meet the act’s requirements. Anxiety? Depression? The conventional physical challenges of post-partum recovery? Any of those things could justify taking the life of a fully formed, completely viable, living infant.

This bill functionally renders third-trimester abortions generally legal. It takes nothing more than the agreement of a mother and doctor that there is any degree of even mental impairment to kill a child

So the "onerous" restrictions this bitch is talking about were..

Theese people wanna kill late terms and infants, but those 2012 restrictions are "onerous" to them?

Seriously, these people are screwed in the head.
