Initial jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs across the U.S., decreased by 9,000 to a seasonally adjusted 233,000 in the week ended April 7, the Labor Department said Thursday. This means claims have now held below 300,000 for 162 consecutive weeks, cementing the longest streak for weekly records dating back to 1967.
The current streak eclipsed the previous longest stretch that ended in April 1970.

I didn't see this on my Yahoo home page.
If the claims had increased by ad few as 900 it would be anchored for hours as the headline with dire statements and calls for analysis of Trump policies.

I thought Jobless claim numbers where bogus ?

Jobless claims are fabulously low - Thank you Trump. However, Trump inherited a fabulously low and solid economy in which Obama inherited a f..... depression and navigated us to sub 5% unemployment, and actually produced more jobs in 2016 than Trump did in 2017 and gets ZERO credit on this board or from Republicans. Thank you, Obama, too.

This is initial jobless claims, as in people who were just laid off.
This isn't the unemployment number, which falls when people simply stop looking for a job.
