The United States Department of Education (ED or DoED), also referred to as the ED for (the) Education Department, is aCabinet-level department of the United States government. Recreated by the Department of Education Organization Act(Public Law 96-88) and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979, it began operating on May 4, 1980.[2]
I've got quite a buzz and I'm having a hard time finding the info.
Anybody have stats to show test scores pre and post?
TIA.

Even if you do get test scores, they won't mean anything. You'd be comparing apples and oranges. Standardized tests have changed a whole lot, even just in the past few years. So the stats aren't likely to be very helpful.

Well, have test scores dropped since the creation of the DoEd?
Have we fallen further behind the rest of the world? That's what I'm looking for.

Again, the tests have changed significantly, so it won't be as cotton dry as before Dept. of Ed. vs. after Dept. of Ed.
Here is what can be a start for you. As you can see, there are a bunch of different studies, projects, etc. that are trying to analyze trends. This article mentions some going back to 1990, but I don't see anything going back to the 70s. Perhaps you can use it as a starting point.

Agree and disagree. There would be a lot of apples to oranges - but what you can figure out is that our standing in the world, particularly in math and science, has plummeted since the creation of the Dept. of Ed.
Now, whether that's causation or correlation is arguable, but the drop isn't.

State testing as we know it today didn’t start until No Child Left Behind, early 2000’s. Not sure what you’d compare it to prior to that, most states just required the FLE for graduation.

We haven't. The rest of the world just didn't worry about testing the ones they know won't do well.
