Guy moves in a structure in international waters. He has to flee after Thai government threatens to sink it and execute him.
quote:

Chad Elwartowski and his partner Nadia Supranee Thepdet have fled their home, built atop a platform around 12 miles off the coast of Phuket, and gone into hiding after authorities revoked the American's visa.

He had promoted "seasteads" on social media and claimed his home did not fall under the sovereignty of any country, which Thai authorities have said is untrue. He repeated the claim on Thursday, writing the home is "outside of Thailand territorial waters."

Used to go there for long weekends and school holidays when we lived in Singapore. Always wanted a shirt that said “You’re Saying It Wrong”.

There is not even the slightest chance that I'm ever living in that, 12 miles away from the nearest land mass

Goes to show you how utterly perverse the government's sense of authority is.

Some guy wants to live floating in a barrel in the ocean and the government for some reason has a big problem with that.

Exactly my thoughts. Guess he is learning why "countries" exist, and form militaries to protect their interests.

Army of one? See how that works out for you.

Because the second something bad happens and this guy needs help, who is on the hook for that?
