"We warn Venezuelans, living in or aiming to travel to the U.S., to be extra careful or to postpone their travel, given the recent proliferation of violent acts and hate crimes," Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro tweeted Monday.

quote:

Uruguay's government issued a travel advisory, telling its citizens to exercise extreme caution "against growing indiscriminate violence, mostly for hate crimes ... which cost more than 250 people their lives in the first seven months of the year."

Yeah, never mind Uruguay has a higher murder rate than the US despite having a population size that is 1% ours and Venezuela is comfortably top 5 in murder even before the riots.

First. these proclamations are just silly.

Second. I am pretty sure that "rate" is independent of population size.

per every 100,000 people, the US has a murder rate of 0.5%. Dan Bongino had a bit on it on his podcast earlier.

That's just regular murder and doesn't hurt as much as hate murder.

The violence in America is out of control. I encourage all Central and South American countries to issue similar travel warnings, and perhaps go as far as using their military to prevent their citizens from traveling to the US. In fact, the hate and racism are so bad in America that any persons of color already here would probably be best off seeking asylum in Mexico or Canada.

Venezuelans are being killed by their own government, starved by its policies, but hey, beware of travelling to the US. Idiotic moron!
